I picked up a JM this past weekend at auction. Before that, I had played only a couple of games on one at Crabtowne USA.

I’ve been very pleasantly surprised Yeah the glove slows the game a bit, but the ball speed around the loops can get CRAZY! I’m convinced this 90’s title gets the fastest ball speeds of any games Ive owned.

So now wondering...whats regarded as the ‘fastest’ modern pin? What makes a pin ‘fast’
...ball speed? Or short ball times?

And it matters a whole bunch for what reason exactly?

I'm not sure it matters a "whole bunch" to me. I'd say that most of the machines I've played are about the same speed +/- a little. IMO JM was noticeably faster and provides an unexpected adrenaline rush / wow factor when you get the ball repeatedly burning around the loops...it was a nice surprise / novelty.

Coincidently, of all the other fast games mentioned in this thread, I probably have a total of only 5 plays combined...and only on ST and ACDC. Haven't had a chance yet to play BSD, F-14, or No Fear. I will definitely put some more time in on these machines when I come across them.

    Quoted from snyper2099:

So you are saying that faster pinball is always better pinball? I disagree but to each their own.

A whole lot goes into making a pinball good. Faster doesn’t necessarily mean better in my opinion. I think it’s just a novelty, like a cool toy. In case of JM, it was a nice surprise. Overall, though, I think JM is about where it belongs in the rankings.

Also...part of the reason for my question was to find out what others think “fast” means. I hear it used a lot, and I infer it to be “ball speed”. But then a couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I thought my Houdini was slow, and there was a minor uproar about Houdini not being slow...perhaps mine is setup wrong, but my Houdini has slowest ball speeds of all pins I’ve owned (but Still a good game that I’m not getting rid of).

Anyway...glad to hear everyone’s input. I really didn’t find Snyper’s post ‘deucy’ at all - he made fair points (agree 100% on FT) and I’m glad he posted. I really just posted the topic to learn from more-experienced pinsiders and gain better understanding.

...I’m too new here to intentionally piss people off!
