F-14 Tomcat is blazing fast. When I think of fast, I think of ball speed and not short ball times. If your a top notch player you may never run into a fast pin if fast is defined as long ball times.

I think JM is the fastest WPC I've played... I've played a real fast AC/DC one time, but I don't think that was normal

Don't be so sure about that. AC/DC is normally really fast, especially if you keep the playfield waxed and clean. Makes some of the other more recent Stern machines seem really slow to me.

Both AC/DC and ST are crazy fast (especially the Pro for each). However, to OP’s point, JM was surprisingly blazing fast when I got to play one.

No Fear is a fast DMD from the 90s

BSD has always been my favorite fast DMD game. Mine came with upgraded flipper coils. I kept it at 7 degrees pitch and it was screaming fast with short ball times. When you finally heard THIRTY MILLION!, you knew you earned it.

JM is the fastest pin I’ve played.

Of the WPC games, I would say No Fear is the fastest.

Yeah, it’s like every shot goes back to the flippers. I’m is pretty flowly but idk almost have to play a Jm and nf next to each other to remember

I agree on ST from stern, that game flows too. AC/DC has been pretty flowy but the ball gets in the pops and side to side with targets so not as flowly as ST

So you are saying that faster pinball is always better pinball? I disagree but to each their own.

Also, any game with a cleared and waxed playfield, set at the same pitch, and some new flipper assemblies as the same title without all those things would always be faster.

So by "fast" did you mean the speed and frequency that the ball returns back to the flipper and not the actual relative speed of the ball?
Did you really mean to ask, "What game allows the player the most main flipper to ball interactions per second?" I would cautiously suggest Fish Tales but it’s definitely not for everyone... myself included.

Same is true with rule depth. There are some very deep games with oh so terrible design and low fun factor.

I understand why the question is asked quite often, I’m just trying to understand why it’s typically always perceived as a good thing.

To voice my opinion? To understand why people love pinball? Why are you here? Do you feel you have to right to tell others what to do? Voice your own opinion about pinball, don’t hate. You could actually contribute to the discussion and not just poke others, asking them to leave.

Pinball takes up a lot of space. I like fast games too but, I would not buy a game just because it’s fast. Just an opinion. Jeez.

I guess my take away overall was that there are a ton of things you could do to ANY pinball game to make it “faster”/smoother. Something else to consider perhaps. A lot of people put stronger flipper coils in LOTR to make it faster.

I saw this thread title and misunderstood the OP's whole intent.
I was going to post how all of the displays in my DMD games seem to have about the same response time.
I don't think any one game has a faster dot matrix display than any other game.

He made no judgment that faster was better, only that he liked the speed. He never said it mattered a whole bunch.

KISS (Stern) and Iron Man can also be extremly quick if set up how I like them.

BSD... I dont know about fastest but one of the hardest for sure.

Stern Star Wars can be as well. Iron man..

That would be the correct answer. Unlike JM, NF has no pop bumpers or glove to slow it down.

I dont really feel Star Trek is fast. The warp shot is fast but thats it. I always felt GOT pro was pretty fast and much more exciting then ST ever.

IM is the fastest I’ve owned, and I’ve owned a lot of “fast” pins.

Out of games I’ve owned I’d say getaway, f-14, and bksor pro were next fastest. Obviously only one of those was a dmd game.

You are right. I regret posting that comment... Did not mean anything other than it’s not the first feature I look for when buying a game. Trust me, no one post is important enough on a site discussing pinball to anger me. I learned that 16 years ago on RGP.

Houdini could maybe be slow because it has a flipper/power issue, maybe the pitch is off, or some other factor. I played one on location in Ashville last year and though it was fast/tight. Another example here locally when it was brand new... that one was fast too.
