In their defense, there's only so much variation in the protocol to communicate with pinball hardware. The references to P-ROC are in the MPF code, not FAST.

What would be nice is a pinball controller system that cost less than $1,200 to put in a game. I'm thinking of EMs being converted to SS, mostly. A single board Sys11 type of solution in the $300 or less range would be nice.

Does FAST have anything like that on the horizon?

How's your pricing compared to P-ROC? I found them pretty expensive.

I'd be more interested in a lamp driver over LED. What have you got in that?

Yeah, the big issue with P-ROC is the cost to convert an EM due to score reels and their expensive drivers.

For example, my Mustang project requires 30 coil drivers - 10 alone just for the score reels.

If you could offer something that will drive incandescent lamps *and* support 32 coils in the $700 range, that would be worthwhile.

Hmm, I think I screwed up my calculations on the P-ROC.

    A P-ROC ($325) + PD-8x8 ($100) + 2xPD-16 ($200) = $625. That would do a two-player EM. So, P-ROC is still pretty compelling.

Yeah, these FAST boards are starting to take longer than Popaduik...

Meanwhile, P-ROC is available now. I get it's more expensive but it's not vapourware.

That's a lot of static bags. But do you have a playable game ready to go?

I meant a game running your boardset. *That* would get you out of the Popaduik Vapourware doghouse!

The first post in this thread was 10 months ago, so I was beginning to wonder if we were looking at another Popaduik situation. But unlike John, there's photos of boards and a firm date of showing a working game, so it's all good. Sorry for the confusion.

Yup, there it is! No vaporware here.

I dunno, neither of the pinball controller sites really lay it out FAQ style for total newbs. The products probably aren't ready for people who have little electronics experience.

    Quoted from Fifty:

Now if there was a Beginner's Guide to spoon-fed me along until I have flippers flipping that would be the icing on the cake.

If FAST ever does one, I'd be happy for Pinball Makers to host it.
