A while back I was gifted an electronic dartboard that came in a wooden-looking cabinet. When I brought it down to the rec room, an idea popped into my head that I couldn’t shake. I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if the cabinet looked like a pinball backbox? Behold, the Fast Draw dartboard cabinet!

I didn't take much for before or in-progress pics, but here's the original doors to give you an idea what this thing started out looking like.

The cabinet is not as deep as an actual backbox, plus I didn't want to have to recreate the original artwork, so I came up with my own dart-themed stencils for the sides.

Overall, I'm happy with it. Some things didn't quite go as planned, but considering I've never done something like this before it turned out ok. It was good practice for actual cabinet refurbs in the future.

The dart holders are actual flippers from PBR. I filled them with epoxy resin to make them solid, and then drilled the holes for the darts. Normal flipper rubber wouldn't work with the holes, so I painted some foam tape red and glued it around the flipper.

Thanks for the kind words! It was a lot more work than what I was expecting, but I just kept at it. There’s still a few finishing details I’d still like to address.

I have a neglected Gold Strike playfield that I need to give some attention to before I start any more projects. Come to think of it, the cabinet needs a facelift and all the mechanicals need some work. I’m gonna be busy for a while.

Maybe some day I will tackle another dartboard cabinet, it is pretty neat.

Very nice and well done, and not just because FD is my favorite EM of all time.

Thanks. I could have picked any game for the cabinet. Fast Draw has a gun-slinging, sharp-shooting theme that I thought would be a good fit for throwing darts, plus the game itself is just awesome.
