I have a Williams Fan-Tas-Tic, just bought and set up. Right away noticed no backbox lighting, but hit credit button anyway, game re-set and played as it should to the best of my knowledge, even played 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 player games and all worked, playfield lighting is working. So investigated backbox lighting, found blown 15a fuse at very top of fuse block, yellow/red wire on both sides of fuse. Replaced fuse, hit credit button and immediately blow #3 15a fuse in block, blk/yell on one side - two black wires on other side. Then I replace #3 fuse but leave #1 out, game resets and plays again. I then remove all bulbs from backbox just to see what happens, same results. Checked jones plugs all OK, no visual signs of issues or burnt smells. So any ideas on where I should start looking? Any help would be greatly appreciated, THANK YOU

Check that the two separate zero position switches on the credit wheel are not touching each other, as one carries 24 volts and the other 6 volts. This can happen if the credit wheel unit has been taken apart and then reassembled incorrectly.

Also check light sockets to see if any tabs are bent and touching

Checked out the credit wheel and sure enough two switches were stuck together, freed them up and rotated the wheel so they were not even close. Did not fire up machine to try yet, I'll keep you posted when I do. Looks like I might need to find out how to tear it down and re-assemble correctly, thanks for your help.

You only need to loosen the switch stack so that the toothed wheel can be turned back to its correct zero position. If the number wheel then don't correspond to the actual zero position, loosen the big nut in the middle and turn it 180 degrees.

Problem solved, Fan-Tas-Tic up and running. Was two switches on credit wheel like sizteves said, haven't played enough yet to see if it will recur, but if it does I know where to start.....Thanks to everyone. Now on to set-up and repair of Dealers choice, seller said worked fine until he adjusted score wheel....we'll see what I find. Thanks again.
