I've got a possible trade in the works, my 1973 Gottlieb Pro-Football for his 1975 Gottlieb Top Score. Just curious if you think this is a fair trade, or if one is more valuable than other.

Both are in very good condition (pics below, what I have handy anyway) and fully functional. Really the only thing I see as "advantageous" for one over the other is Pro-Football is a Wedgehead. His TS's backglass had some minor flaking along the lower edge; he appears to have touched it up (and did a reasonable job, from the looks of it in the photo).

Ultimately, I like my P-F, but I tend to gravitate toward my other games, so I was interested in trading for something else. I'm a fan of bowling, and TS looked fun, so I figured I'd go for it.

Just wanted some feedback on value, if you think it's a good one-for-one or if there should be cash involved.

The only pics I have of my PF right now:

I think you would be getting the "better end" of the deal if you do make the trade. I have owned both and I like Top Score (or 300) much better than the Pro Football myself. I know some people get hung up on the value of wedgeheads but I don't see a lot of added value to common wedgeheads over other two and four player Gottlieb games from the same era. Just my 2 cents on things!

yea a fair trade, I prefer the pro football over the 300 but on the market the 300 most likely would fetch a few hundred more. Not a tremendous amount of love for the pro football which keeps the price down . I love the PF cow bell....

Enjoy your games

Thanks for the feedback. Completed the trade this morning. Needs a little tweaking but nothing major, so I'd say it was a reasonable trade. Actually, I know it was a good trade, because both my daughter and I already like it better than Pro-Football, and that makes it completely worthwhile.

Two totally different games. I had a TS for four years and miss it so i think you did very well. The Pro football style layout pins with the double flippers is a decent game but not as good as TS IMO. This is a case where the Wedgehead is not as good of a game as the multi player.

When we owned our two 300's they keep getting played as much (or more) than any other game in the room. We have mostly SS machines but there is just something about a good playing EM that can't be beat! I would put Top Score (or 300) in the top 20 EM machines ever made as far as a good all around machine. Decent art, decent gameplay and animated backglass -- what more could you ask for in an EM pin?

Glad to hear you are happy with it! Enjoy!
