Discussions relative to LOTR playfields many times include, "the registration is very good". Exactly what the hell is registration when it comes to a playfield?

Quoted from CaptainNeo:registration is when you print multiple colors, how each layer of color lines up with the previous image. If they are not lined up exact, you get a blurred image. and distortion. A lot of NOS playfields have misregistration, hence why they are still NOS over all these years and never used in the first place. NOS usually means flaws that were denied from the factory. Sometimes it means the game didn't do as well as expected (case point CP) and they have a bunch of left over playfields. For early Bally SS, i've seen a ton of misregistration. Some of it, is way off.
This "grasshopper" thanks you, Captain.
