What clear bumper topper will fit on top of the bumper. Are they all standard? A link would be great.

I have a early machine which has the older ROM. Which ROM version do you guys like? Is the only difference the multiball "spot" in the code? Also I notice newer speech/sound updated ROMS. Did this add anything to the game?
I placed two shakers in mine(both go off at the same time). I only wanted them for the center rescue targets when hit. The two motors(12v) I used were $10 total. The relay board was about $15. Since I just need a quick on/off I went simple with this. I have other controllers for more advance stuff but I don't want overkill. It works awesome for $25!
I am also adding new sounds and a F-14 fighter (similar to the above pic) which will actually take off when you launch the ball (outside the cab on the side rail). Goes about 18 inches up the field then resets when the next ball hits the drain switch. Almost done and will post a video when finished. It will be unique for sure.
I bought smaller diecast for the playfield. I think the one I am now using for the launch is a little bit out of proportion to the field.
Quoted from zippydapinhead:Do you have a detailed how- to on that? sounds cool!
I just used a simple 12v relay board. You power the board with 12v and it outputs 12v to the motor. I added a couple of switches to the underside of the playfield. When these push down the ones that were added push down with it turning on the motor. This is a little bit time consuming if you are going to wire more then a couple.
I thought this was the simple choice. Took only 5min.
The sounds and switched jet taking off mod are going through a controller. 2 triggers. One at launch switch which starts the routine then one on the drain switch which interrupts the routine to return back to starting position. This way the jet knows when the next ball launches. We all know the ball time of this game
I can add 24 different sounds. 8 on takeoff switch, 8 on drain switch, 8 when the machine is idle. So far I only have a few effect sounds, but I would like to use them all eventually. Any ideas on sound?
Quoted from Patofnaud:Definitely play Kenny Loggin's Danger Zone when ball is in trough waiting to fire.
That was my first.
I also have a few "negative" quotes from Top Gun that are on the drain switch. Three of them. Need some themed music on idle. Only have around 6 of 28 total mp3's. First suggestions get into the game.
Quoted from Pinball_Nate:Hey, did that "crazy" guy doing the flying planes mod ever finish yet??
Yes, I finished the moving plane mod. Three more to go. The shaker motors are almost done, then new sounds, and another moving toy surprise.
Quoted from graystarsfan1:One flasher is still out on the right side so we have to figure out why its still not working.
Probably a ceramic resistor. 6 little boards(5 under the playfield, 1 behind the backglass GI) hold 4 ceramic resistors(2 small, 2 large) look for a missing large resistor that either fell off or a broken leg.
I think it is cool. Doesn't hide anything and it makes it consistent throughout the playfield. They are pretty "balls on" in terms of installing them on the plastics size wise. The hardest one to install is the small square one on the side. Even that one is pretty easy but you have to remove quite a few things to get to it. I guess you could install it without taking that plastic completely off.
All in all I think it is worth the cash to give it a cool look. I do like how the G.I. lights the right from underneath.
Quoted from Hess:Just got my first pin which is an F-14 Tomcat "for my son"... it's all he wanted for Christmas... lucky me! Still only ½ way through these 17 pages but figured I'd post to add myself to this "owners / fan club". Great website and forums. Helped me chose between the F-14 Tomcat and a High Speed as well as make my first repair (broken plunger link).
Good job Hess! Welcome to the club!
