Joining the club in a couple weeks. My tradition before picking up a new machine is to find the perfect keychain. This one was a no brainer when i found it. Excited!

Anyone have a link for a replacement backbox lock assembly?

#1883 7 years ago

I'm in the middle of a restore, rebuilding the beacon assembly. When it gets triggered, the (new) motor isn't able to start the rotating. Only after i move it manually, they start up. I'm trying to find friction or anything that could be hindering the movement, but no luck.

Any tips on this? Thanks

I have an early production machine, and i'm new to this generation of games. Is updating the code on the chip something worthwhile to look in to?

Came off no problem for me but did lift the insert art off

Interesting issue, the ball lock on my left center locks ball one, then the second ball will fire in there when usually it will kick the first ball out (heads up!), It doesn't. Two balls end up locked, and don't fire out until the third ball search.

Hope that makes sense, switches seem to work, and coils fire. Any suggestions?

Edit:. Nevermind. Today I learned the value of the switch edges vs switch levels test.

Quoted from HughesDForce:

Any suggestions of what the cause might be?
Thanks in advance!

Likely mechanical, and not electrical in my experience. The belts and pullys need to be able to be rotated very easily. If there is a friction point, the beacons will not rotate. I would double check them by hand and see if they're biding up somehow. Also, start the mode, and then help them with a little turn manually by hand. If they fire up, you know that there needs to be adjustments somewhere.

Anyone interested in my reserved spot for a reproduction playfield? Cost is 745€, or about $833 shipped to the US.
I have a 100€ deposit down. See this thread for more info. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/demand-check-f14-tom-cat

Beautiful game. What do you guys value this F14? I have a playfield coming for mine and I'm trying to figure out how crazy I want to go with fixing it up.

Yeah. I have a pf coming too. This was a complete beater. Been working on it for awhile. Tough to say what someone might pay for a really nice one.

Does anyone have an issue when the ball is coming down the right inlane to the flipper, and it bounces slightly as it transitions from the metal guide to the flipper?

I guessing I need a new lane guide...

#2128 7 years ago
Quoted from BrewNinja:

New lane guide will indeed cure that. Cliffy sells enhanced lane guides that are really nice. Put a set of my F14 a little while ago.

Had no idea Cliffy did these. Thanks for the heads up. I shot him an email.

Can one of you subject matter experts tell me how to achieve a "Launch Bonus"? I should know this by now.

I believe it's hitting the left inlane followed by a shot up the right launch Lane to the vuk.

#2163 7 years ago

Yep. The kicker usually hits my left flipper then bounces up and hits the glass

I didn't know you could enable flight insurance for balls one and two. Tough call though, I usually try not to enable/disable features that make the game easier.

Anyone ever have a problem with their outhole kicker being too strong?

I did a PF swap. When I drain, the outhole kicker fires the ball hard enough to pop another ball into the shooter lane. What did I miss?

Quoted from shirkle:

Until the game ended. After the game, as my last ball drained, it kicked two balls to the shooter lane. I can’t do anything about it unless I take the glass off and put the balls in the trough by hand.

I had this same problem almost every time I drained. The outhole kicker was sending a new ball into the lane. If you watch it closely, it created a bit of a swirl on the next ball (hard to explain). Anyway, I found that tightening up these two walls fixed my problem.

Actually, now that I read this again, I'm not sure we had the same problem.
