Hey guys picked up a project tomcat a few months ago and have been picking away at some issues. I found some wires dangling under the playfield and I’m thinking they go to some flashers? I pushed them through the playfield and I can see where there used to be sockets screwed into the playfield. Any reason why these would have been taken out? I have an early version without the lamp boards under the playfield. Also are all 4 flippers supposed to be 11630? Or are the top two different?

I assume they go to flashers because there is domes on the plastics right there.

Quoted from koen12344:

Yes there are supposed to be flashers there, but there was a service bulletin from Williams to disconnect them because they could cause a short with those standup targets.
I've put them back on mine and insulated the lamp sockets with some heat shrink tubing.

Ok perfect thanks very much. I kind of thought so because I could see in the playfield pictures here on pinside they aren’t in the later versions of the game. Do you happen to have a picture of how they are wired?

I don’t think it will be an issue. I doubt that wrecked it. I could be wrong though. I think it basically just reduces the spark at contact so I think it will be fine.

I had a highspeed that would randomly do that. I think there was a thread on it on pinside where someone else was having the issue. I’ll see if I can find it.

Quoted from slochar:If anything the close flippers that are up there are what's going to hammer the standups. Just looked to see if they did the weaker coils for the flippers, and nope, 11630's standard strength.

When I was working on my f14 project I found a service bulletin on the ipdb site that said they did change the upper flipper coils to weaker ones as well as unhook the extra flashers on the early run f14 tomcats.

Quoted from SkaterVet:

I got sick and tired of sifting through tons of poorly marked key chains and decided to make my arcade life easier.

That’s cool where did you get that?

I think lots of people fill them with a wood dowel approximately the same size then use a wood putty to hold it in .

Quoted from bowtech:

I know she's just a player's condition game but those lock bar holes bug the shit out if me. What do you guys used to cover them?

Quoted from Pauz21:

Does anyone have one of these kicking around? Found one thru Great Plains but it’s about a .90 part with $20 usd to ship. Trying to source elsewhere.

Have you tried the digikey website or jagr electronics in Regina? Not sure if either place would have them but worth a shot.

Quoted from Pauz21:You are a beautiful human. Didn’t know jags existed. Ordered this and a few other things. Parts were more than GPE but shipping very fair to offset the slight increase in part cost. Very happy to learn this.

No worries glad to help out. I always check with them if I’m in a pinch and only need a few things. They surprise me with some of the things they have in stock and have access too.
