First, thanks for all the help guiding me to purchasing my first machine.

I got a chance to play it for an hour or so and noticed a few things that need to be addressed before the kids see it on xmas.

First, the ball hits the glass in a few situations.
When the ball gets fired back and hits the left flipper and when the ball hits the center targets.

Second, the LED in the target in the middle is way, way to bright when it flashes.

Third, the inserts in the middle near the flippers mess up the ball path pretty bad.

I did some reading and I'm not that concerned about the ball hitting the glass.

I think I'll heat the inserts and push them back in.

Not sure what to replace the center LED with.

Hope I'm on the right path.
Need to get a bar stool to get some real time in...

Congratulations! I'm sure your kids will be super excited this Christmas.

1. The stand up target is probably bent back a little which can cause air balls. You'll need to bend the bracket forward so the target is perpendicular or slightly forward of perpendicular to the playfield.

2. Sometimes the LEDs are too bright especially for flashers. Just put in a regular Incandescent flasher.

3. Inserts can be heated up and gently tapped down. Just use a towel to protect the playfield and a block of wood. Place the block on top of the towel and tap the block with a hammer. Be careful. Go slowly and keep checking progress.

Don't jump right in and try to fix inserts - you have a greater chance of harming than fixing. Are you sure it isn't a flasher under the center insert?

Quoted from Zero4199:

Exactly the way it should be - just enjoy it as it is....

Game can be brutally hard. I have a restored one with a brand new playfield and it plays wicked fast.

GRATS!! F14 was my first machine too! I added a color changing/fading LED to that large center insert....looks nice.

Did some fiddling.
Adjusted the bumper actavation switch to ne more sensitive when the ball hits the skirt.
Adjusted all targets to be way more sensitive.
I'm having an issue with the heavy spinner with the decals in it.
It wants to lay horizontal rather than vertical.
Gotta do some searching.

Make sure to power off when fiddling. Very easy to make more problems if you dig around and change bulbs while powered up.

Great game. Just a couple of minor things, and it sounds like you will be set up for success!
