F14 spinner dead during play - good in switch test mode

    Okay I am not getting any response or scoring from the spinner on my F14 in play mode. However if I go to switch test mode, the spinner switch (48) checks out perfectly fine. The switch does not appear to be shorted close in test mode when at rest, and wont respond till you manually rotate the spinner a near half revolution.

    So as far as I can tell, the CPU is seeing the correct change of state in the switch test mode, but not in play mode. Never seen this before.

    I have never seen this before. I can’t imagine what would cause a switch to work in switch test and not in game play. It’s a nuclear option but - factory reset?

    Maybe a RAM issue? Current game code?

    Do you have a Siegecraft switch tester? Would be interesting to see if it works using that during gameplay.

    No such tester. Current game code is L1 which I believe is the only released code for F14.

    I just don't get this at all. Everyone I have spoken to says the same thing. Makes no damn sense.

    You say it works in test mode.... if you spin it fast, or hit with a ball in test mode does it act normal? I feel like I have seen something like this, where it just isn't registering multiple quick changes of the switch correctly (like in a game). So if you check it with your hand in test it seems fine, but its really not.

    In the diag mode, there is a change in state either by hand or zipping a ball through it. Just to rule it out I will short the switch with a test lead in play mode. But I am not optimistic that even that will work.
