Thanks to Grumpy and other Pinsiders for helping me with the display issues. I have marked that as resolved.
The sound is the next thing to work on. During the sound diagnostic test everything works fine. In game with a one player credit the sound works fine. However, if I add more than one player the music may or may not work for players 3 and 4 although the scoring sounds work. For player one the music and sound continue to work.
An additional sound problem started last night. Sound 17 in the diagnostic test will keep playing as it cycles through the rest of the sounds. Sound 17 when activated in game will also continue to play as long as the ball is in play.

Have you tried resetting the ribbon cable between the sound board and the mpu? On both sides of the cable unplug and plug it a couple times to ensure a good connection to the headers (do this while the game is off btw). Thought that would be an easy thing to start with.
Friends F-14 sounds like it says F-you ram rod. Maybe needs to have new sound roms burned. Asked Steve Richie at the TPF and he said for sure that it not what it is saying. 
Can a weak 5 volt power supply cause sound problems? I am now getting game resets when activating the left flipper. This happened a few weeks back and I replaced the bridge rectifier on the power board. This solved the problem temporarily but now am experiencing game resets again when pushing the flipper. The voltages at the header pins on the power board all read 4.92 which is low.
