I owned first and second generation Chevy Volts. Both were great cars....for what they were made for. My 40 mile daily commute was perfect for the battery range.

I can tell you that cold weather, especially sub-zero weather absolutely kills the mileage on an electric vehicle.

These Lighting tow videos popping up sure are eye opening.

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Over the next 5 years, all 50 states have approval and funding to start building EV charging stations along all national (and state, maybe?) highways. I’m sure the money will get squandered and most of it will go in the pockets of the hundreds of politicians all the way down the line.
BUT, at least this is a government project vs say, the billions of taxpayer funds Verizon and Comcast stole in order to upgrade our Internet infrastructure. Verizon got away with that. State governments have to be transparent and accountable

One thing I have read recently is that only 70-75% of the existing installed public chargers are in an operational state. I guess certain individuals have discovered the copper value in the cabling and are also targeting private owner chargers on streets.

    Quoted from RyanStl:

Those had an ICE though or did you mean Bolts?

    Volts. Yes, both had ICE.

I used them pretty much solely as commuters for my 40 daily miles. The first Gen would do it 100% on battery during the summer. The second Gen would do the 40 miles almost exclusively on battery year round.

On my second generation Volt, I went almost 7 months without adding any gas for the ICE....with about a three month streak without even using it (it would kick on every once in awhile just to keep the gas fresh).

Overall, they were both excellent cars. Very reliable, drove nicely, and got the job done. I would grab another one if they were still available on lease.

I saw this yesterday. I experienced the same thing with both of my Volt's although the second generation one was a bit better.
