Quoted from Deadcatch:Both diverter coils are AE-26-1500 but the manual says they should be AL-26-1500. Does this matter?
Electrically this doesn't matter, the prefix indicates the mounting position of the terminal lugs, as viewed from the coil's round end, with the lugs pointing away from you: AE- means that the coils's two lugs are mounted in the two end positions: AL- means that the coil's lugs are mounted in the left and middle positions: AR- means that the coil's lugs are mounted in the middle and right positions.
Quoted from Deadcatch:Put a piece of padding to insulate lower coil from upper coil
Not sure what you mean. more info?
Quoted from Deadcatch:tested dc on the lugs in coil test for upper diverter and voltage did jump (can't remember the voltages rn)
Voltage jumped?? there should be constant solenoid voltage at the terminals all the time when the game is on. The voltage drops momentarily when the coil fires.
Quoted from Deadcatch:Continuity test from the right pin of the transistors q77, q12, q13 to ground and all beeped. No beeps from any of the other pins going to ground. (is this an adequate test of transistors?)
This is not how you test the transistors. Improper testing can lead you down the wrong path. Read the repair docs....at least this section but reading and understanding the entire document is desired.

Quoted from Deadcatch:Problem:
Can't find U50 on the MPU011a (any idea where it is?) as many other posts pointed to this as a possible problem.
Any insight or possible ideas? I am totally new to pin repair and the Rottendog MPU complicates things for me because most posts refer to the sys 11 original board.
U50 is a 7402 is a DIP-14 located very close to the K1 relay. I cannot say if this your problem, proceed slowly and do/learn what should happen on a correctly functioning board and perform some more troubleshooting. The Rottendog MPU is supposedly based on the original schematics with the same designators, so it shouldn't vary drastically from that standpoint.
