Hey everyone - I've done some searching/reading and I know the basics, but I thought I'd post about my specific display issue to look for some guidance. The P3 (lower-left) display is out on my F-14, and has been since I bought it. I've attached some pics below. For years I've considered replacing the whole thing with an LED display and selling mine to defray part of the cost, but honestly it just isn't a big enough issue for me to warrant spending the $200. Replacing the individual display is probably beyond my soldering skill level. So I pulled the board to look for anything unusual (i.e. cracked solder on the header pins), but nothing really jumped out at me. My four displays all look very different when turned off (specifically, the P3 display has some light segments while the P4 display is fairly dark), but I don't really have a good sense of what an 'out-gassed' display would look like. Looking at the pics below (and I can supply more, if desired), can anyone suggest what my issue might be?

99% sure that is outgassed. If you had the soldering skills (or a friend, or a local pinsider) and can find a replacement for cheap then just fix it. Just be aware that if one player is gone, another may be soon to follow. In all honesty, I feel that modern digital replacement is the way to go. They are crisp and bright and you don't need the HV section of the power supply. A couple hundred is worth it, IMHO.

Thanks for the confirmation, guys. I think that I'm just going to continue to live with it for now, as we rarely have more than 3 people playing at once. If I lose a second (or have issued with the high-voltage PS), I'll probably go with an LED replacement.
