I am having an issue with the left flipper on my F-14 and am stumped.
If you play a game, the lower left flipper coil eventually gets weak and hot (melted one coil).
If you hold the flipper in the up position, the lower left coil makes a "buzz" sound, gets hot, and eventually blows the fuse on the flipper power supply board.

I have:
Checked, double checked, triple checked the wiring (referencing wiring diagrams in manual).
Replaced ALL diodes on the switches and coils.
Replaced all switches except for the normally open EOS switches on the lower flippers.
Replaced all flipper coils (FL-11630 lower and FL-11722 uppers)
Replaced ALL diodes again, including the ones on the new coils.
Rechecked all wiring again....and again....and again.
Gone through about 4 bags of Radio Shack fuses while testing

The normally open EOS switches on the lower flippers register during the switch test when closed.
All other switches in the matrix of these switches work properly, these switches also appear to be the only link to the CPU board the flippers have.

I'm starting to think I may have a bad flipper power supply board. Is there a way to test these?
This is my only system 11 game, so I can't swap the board from another game.

Any help/ideas are appriciated!

Can you swap your EOS points from the left flipper over to the right and see if problem moves ?

I'm wondering if the fiberboard spacers are polluted with flux or something and conducting power across them. So your EOS isn't really open.

I will swap them and report back.

make the EOS switch to open earlier bend the EOS against the sense of pawl movement
EOS if is open to late the power winding of the coil is staying to much on and do get hot !then coil burns

Your coil / EOS is miswired or Switch is not opening / closing properly.

There is two switches. When the game tells you it sees the flipper switch it is for the switch matrix high score entries and not the cutting of high power.

Swapped the switches...same
Reinstalled old coil and EOS switch..same
Rechecked wiring again....and again....

Time for a break. Go at it with fresh eyes.

Flipper power leaking to it or something. You were probably right on your earlier thinking board issue.

I officially feel like an idiot....
BOTH EOS switches I was swapping out were shorted with flux.......

I wouldn't feel bad. You ran into something new, and figured it out.

Don't feel bad, you fixed it and learned something new for next time.

But the great feeling of finding and fixing the problem yourself, quickly and completely overpowers it.
