I just bought another F-14 this weekend. It had the playfield already changed out. Figuring that I'd mess up a playfield swap, I thought I'd buy this one and sell my players one. When I got the new one home I played one game no problems and the next game I notice the line of death Kickback was not working. The whole switch column 7 was out shorted on main board. So I need to figure out what switch is causing my short problem before sending the board out for repair. Below are several pictures I took. If you see anything wrong let me know. If you want more pictures let me know. My only guess is the Tomcat switches are too close to the Flashers and shorting out there with a hard hit to the switch. The prior owner taped the back of the O but the M could be hitting or the A could be hitting on the other side. I can make the O and M hit the flasher bracket with push by my finger. The A misses flasher bracket behind it, but comes danger close. I welcome thoughts on this being my problem and so the best way to correct it.

I would best that it's the flashers behind the targets. Williams actually removed those flashers for this very reason early in production. You either have an early production F-14 Tomcat or someone added the flashers in. I would add some kind of protective barrier between the targets and flashers.

Add some heat shrink around the base of the light socket. Ill try to find the thread that Vid made on how to fix that problem.

Thanks. Going to order the correct 89 bases like Vid shws and insulate the bases and target switches like crazy.
