I probabbly have missed a few posts reviewing the news from expo - were there any announcements from Stern or BHZA or the Predator folks?

    #2 11 years ago

More news! I second that question.

Gary stern was asked about upcoming games in his seminar and the response was - we have some very exciting titles coming out

Competing with Jack for "King of Non-Answers" I see....

I had to miss the Gary seminar Saturday afternoon. Did anyone ask him about the home model of TF? Questions like What will the real selling price be since "Retail" is not much lower than Pro machines from a few years ago.

I am guessing that Stern is holding back the next title until after they get out of the Christmas season sales period and software updates so they sell as many of those games as possible. They know that the next title will likely cut heavily into the sales of the existing games.

Yes, gary was asked about the home model. He didn't make a comment on the price only that it is below the pro model. He said the target audience is the "rich" doctor lawyers who want one game in their house.

He also made a comment that it was a "trojan horse" designed to get people hooked on pinball. George also commented that the game flowed really well. But no comment about the price point

Another interesting comment from gary was a resurgance in location play at places in the us, which mainly have stand up vids, but are also adding pinball games from the 80's. More simple rule set games. So fingers crossed maybe this pinball craze is going to go mainstream again

One more interesting point, they (at stern) are looking for ways to make the games less expensive, with easier to understand rules for the casual player out for a night of entertainment

Stern never discloses info on upcoming games because they want to promote the games being made now so people buy them. Then once Stern officially announces the title they promote the hell out of it, like they did with Transformers. Jack did mention during his talk they are starting to consider the 2 titles after WOZ and one is licensed theme and the other is non licensed theme.

If they are rich, then why would they buy a cheap home model?

Not everybody knows about pinball, Pinside, RGP, etc. etc.

    You do. But some don't.

There's Doctor/Lawyer rich and then there's Rock Star / New York Yankee rich.

Biggest news was Python joining JJP and saying Pinball Circus will be made. Not in the form we know it as WMS/Bally mind you, but a new version in JJP form.

That may be the non licensed theme coming down the pipe.

And bigger news than that is, Python has cleaned up his act and has been dry for close to a year. I wish him and JJP nothing but the best.

If we are still talking multi level vertical play, this could be my first JJP game.

    You made me search

    Zingy Bingy sounds good

Python Vladimir Anghelo is an artist best known for his work on video games and pinball machines. Anghelo was born in Transylvania, Romania, and moved to the United States when he was 17. After studying art and animation both in Romania and the US, he worked as an animator for Disney until 1979 when he moved to Williams Electronics to create the artwork for Joust, taking a 50% pay-cut in the process because he believed that video games had more potential than traditional animation.[1] He continued to work for Williams (and, later, Midway Games after they merged with Williams) for 15 years until 1994, when his most ambitious project, The Pinball Circus, was shelved. In 1994 he left Williams for Capcom, and designed one game for them entitled Flipper Football. He was in the process of designing his second Capcom game, an "erotic" pinball game entitled Zingy Bingy, when Capcom closed down their pinball division.

Truth...though to be fair, you probably know of his work even if your new to the hobby and don't know his name.
