I love the Shorpy historic picture archive. Especially when they show urban pictures from the turn of the 20th century (approximately 118 yeas ago now). Those photos are so detailed, when you click on "view full size" you can pan around and zoom in and see all kinds of fantastic details. It's like having a window in time.

Yes, it's always fun taking a historical walk through time and studying all the little interesting details.
I also find it offers great perspective. When I feel envious seeing some of the amazing collections here or listening to people talk about what luxury car to buy next I go there. Looking at some of the depression era photos makes me feel downright grateful!
