If you licensed the Evil Dead / Ash character and associated IP you could also do something original with it, liked Ash vs Evil Dead vs Pinball or something like that. Kinda similar to how they did the limited Ash vs Freddy vs Jason comic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddy_vs._Jason_vs._Ash).

That way you don't limit it to just one movie, and you could steal quotes from everything, depending on how the licensing works. Which I admit I don't know anything about.

If you had to limit it to a single movie or concept, then I agree with most that Evil Dead II would be the best... although yeah, the best quotes are definitely from Army of Darkness.

I would hate to see Ash vs Evil Dead omitted. That show was really entertaining, had some great new characters as Kelly and Ruby were great eye candy, Pablo was funny as hell and Eligos was a bad ass demon. The show never touched on AoD and drew all of its mythos off Evil Dead, or am I forgetting something. I do agree AoD has some great quotes but those mini ashes were over the top camp for me, not to mention poorly green screened. That said I'd buy any pinball iteration of this theme!

I also agree with this. Having the game based on the found recorded translations of the Necronomicon would open it up to Ash vs "any form of evil". The Necronomicon is directly from the works of H.P. Lovecraft and has been used in both Evil Dead and Friday the 13th...thus the crossover comics. Though they have also done Dracula, Martians, Xena, and Hitler. Personally, I wouldn't want to wrap in another theme. I'd take a few of the scenes from Evil Dead and then create new chapters that fit into the same world. I would for sure include: possessed girlfriend, cellar door, possessed hand, and mini-Ashes. Bruce Campbell is the only major voice actor you'd really need. Having him to create custom quotes would be amazing. Any voice actors could play the various Deadites or Professor Knowby. Turning to google, the professor was already voiced by multiple people: Bob Dorian and John Peakes.

Army of Darkness really is a quote machine, love that movie... agree that Evil Dead II steps it up over Evil Dead, love them all though. I often shake my head that Sam Rami was handed the keys to the Spider-man franchise after that series of movies but not nearly as shocked as I was when Peter Jackson was given the keys to LOTR. Dead Alive and Meet the Feebles should have disqualified him from consideration, someone really saw something in these directors based on their roots.

You do realize that by the time Raimi directed Spiderman, he had already directed 14 films.
Was a writer on 10 of those films.
And was producer on 6 of those. Not including the Hercules and Xena and 8 other tv shows.
And a bunch of other credits on other Hollywood films and TV before even touching spiderman.

Pretty sure he earned it.

Raimi earned a lot of cred doing "mainstream" movies in the 90's like Quick and the Dead, For the Love of the Game and The Gift.

Things are much worse now where a director does one indy film and is IMMEDIATELY given a $200m mega blockbuster as their next picture.

I didn't realize he did The Gift. And I know alot of ppl are meh about Drag Me to Hell but I love that movie.

I do, I know his history well... and I do think he earned it... but if it were my money not sure I hand the keys over... good on those decision makers for sure. And I think Drag Me to Hell is some of his best work, love that movie.

Let's not forget Darkman. There was even an NES game based on it. I think that's what really helped him land Spiderman and there are a lot of similarities between the 2 films.
