Quoted from PinChili:Agreed. But this wasn't an "eBay prices suck" thread. It is (was) more of an "there's an ever increasing number of self serving and predatory jerks masquerading as hobbyists and pinball promoting hero's who are actually greedy bums who could care less about helping anyone else but themselves" thread.
But that title didn't fit well in the subject line.
...but nobody said pinball is only a hobby and is exempt from the rest of the capitalist world. You are making pinball into a single category which it cannot be contained. Pinball, like any other thing that interests people, will have forums and clubs as well as businesses that make money on the interest. The closest relatable "hobby" is the classic car industry.. Narrow it down to a specific brand if you will... say 1960's Corvettes. Then you will see the similarities in numbers and wild price swings. One model is worth 100k and the next is worth 10k. Condition is king. People are in it as a passion and others for money. There will be honest sellers and sleazy used car dealers. People are getting screwed all the time who enter into any passion with a fist full of bucks.
