I just bought my first pinball machine but it's got some issues. After the score test the machine will lock up. I can turn it back in ten minutes later and it will play. I can get one game in and get one more game out of it and it locks up again. The scores will get to 8 on all of the scores. I replaced the mpu board and still the same thing. I can shut it off and wait ten minutes and I can play it again. Any suggestions?

There are a couple of things that probably need to be done:

Connectors on the rectifier/transformer board are probably shot.

The power supply section (+5 volt regulator) probably needs to be rebuilt.

Also make sure the "fish paper" that sits between the start button and switch isn't worn through. That happened on mine, was contacting metal on metal and doing some very weird things.

KenLayton,

Suggestions for this particular Bally:

Rebuild the power supply

rebuild the 5v & high voltage sections of the solenoid driver board

remove that battery on the MPU!

re-pin and rebuild(male & female) connectors as needed.

All of these kits are avail @ Big Daddy for easy access to the right parts!

What's the full website? do they just have a new solenoid board I can buy and install? I'm legally blind so teh "rebuilding" aspect might not be the best thing for me.

Well, I replaced it with a DOH new mpu board and still having the same issues. Now I will have to find someone to rebuild the power supply.

I just installed a rebuilt solenoid board and the machien runs even worse. The chime schemes aren't working properly but the shut off sequence is still the same. I am learning more toward a power supply issue at this point.

I just replaced teh MPU board after 3 tries if getting it right> Now the machien works like a champ! I onyl have 2 bad sockets and the left flipper is week. However it works better than I thought it would.
