Dumb question, but where do i plug in an ethernet cable to update?

    #2 1 year ago

Most games are updated using a Sd card , or usb thumb drive .

That is not a current feature on games, unfortunately.

Update files need to be copied to an SD card or USB flash drive. For older games, you'll need to deal with EPROM chips.

Yup, thanks all. I actually had to do this once already and totally forgot...lol

Are you updating the new P3/Lexy updates? The UFO lock/return update is great and speeds up the flow/gameplay dramatically.

I responded to Brian via email, but for those of you reading this thread...

The P3 uses wifi rather than hard-wired ethernet to optionally connect to your home/location network. We don't currently support software updates via the network (updates are currently handled via a usb thumb drive), but we will once we get the back-end support fully implemented. We currently use the network connection for multi-machine gaming, as seen in demos of HeadsUp and Cosmic Cart Racing. CCR playfields will start shipping soon, hopefully later this month.

Makes me want two machines side by side

We've had a number of customers put in orders to do exactly that.

People playing side-by-side machines running HeadsUp at the past couple of Texas Pinball Festivals were having more fun than I've ever witnessed at a pinball show. Both experienced and beginner players had a blast playing the game. CCR is a more traditional layout (than the CL playfield required for HeadsUp), and it offers a completely different heads up (or up to 4 player) experience. Whereas HeadsUp is only a multi-player game, CCR also offers circuit racing and other achievement-based objectives for single player games.

PSA: Always make sure that your TVs and Xboxes are hardwired with ethernet, not WiFi.

WiFi is fine for low bandwidth, but if you want to stream your movies at best quality, ethernet is your man.

Hi gstellenberg, will owners be able to play each other via the network by the time CCR is released?

Local networking will work for sure (it's working now). Wide area networking probably won't be ready by the initial release. The in-game code is there, but we need to get the matchmaking services up and running externally.
