Coming fresh off Dragonball z which is done besides art and is a hit with the locals, I decided todo a very familiar theme that not only deserves a pinball but will lend itself well to pinball. I am doing the same exact relay logic system I did with dragon Ball z I'm using ice cube relays to pretty much drive everything and timing relays to do a lot of the finesse that a traditional score motor is responsible for, same power supplies same MP3 players and so on. I decided to go with the flow! I wanted something with Flow and I wanted some unique features, and lots of flippers! And no stupid ABC Lanes- Keith elwin has got it right with that- what a waste of space. The isolated space underneath the ramp is a captain ball area that I have not installed the fifth flipper and the four targets here yet and the kicker on the right side is what is going to drive the two ball multi-ball after completing "bike" there will always be a ball in that pocket that circuit is already tested and working but getting it to work mechanically is gonna be challenging.

Rules. Super simple here. Basically have to spell all banks of targets, after you spell a bank a Reese's Peice is lit, after lighting them all the tip of et's finger will light up pointing at the ramp - I have a dude printing a ship for me that I'm going to have the ball divert somehow from the ramp to go into the ship which I'll place over on the left. So yeah collect all the Reese's pieces to send ET home makes sense right? The only feature competion that will drop ball to ball is "ET"

    Spell...
    ET -light spinner for points
    Elliott- gives xtraball
    Bike-two ball multiball
    Coors-flippers reverse for a while
    Shed- turns on ball save

Haven't figured out what the all down drops will do

And haven't figured out the double outlane to the left, still having fun with it.

    Does ET move at all?

I would think at the very least his neck would have to go up and down. Of course, if the op sold the design to stern, it would be cut out to save on bom. The only movement would be when you shake the game really hard.

Was going to make a bash toy like I had freeza on my other game but I figured it'd be easier just to have the magnet do the work

The pinball machine should be based on the sweet ET Atari game from the 80s.

Are you saying no atari game is good; so they are all good?

I found I have an ET 2600 cartridge.
I see from the wiki; that someone fixed the bad code in the game.
I'm curious if one could program a new EEPROM and replace the bad game with better code.

Couple thoughts on the layout. Firstly, I like the game. I'm intrigued by the lower right hand region. The ball return to the shooter lane and the kicker at the outline with the controlled gate will be a lot of fun. Having it as a controlled gate will allow for a pause with a show before returning the ball to play. Just above that, the island without ball play will allow mounting of an animatronic mech or even a servo controlled bash toy that comes over playfield. Here is a thought for that same location. Instead of a single newton ball rolling into the island, consider 3 stacked up one behind the other. A hitting to the bottom ball sends the top one flying around the islands left side loop and locking that ball behind a post. Hit the bottom ball again and a second ball is locked behind the post. Hit the bottom ball a third time and lock it as well. A different hit on the playfield pulls the post and all 3 balls return to the starting position. Of course you will have to add 3 inline switches for the lock, either proximity or roll over type. Nice job on the wireform. They look very professional. I've heard it said that people avoid designing direct shots to the pops. I guess there are two reasons for this, wear on the mech and sometimes the pop guns the ball right down the middle back at you. I've seen older designs that protect the lower two pops with bands. Targets are also a possibility. Kick back targets could also be used though you will have to be careful on the angling to avoid the right down the middle possibility. One last thought. As you know balls should not hit a guide at an acute angle. Your design does well with this with the exception of around your pop nest. Most people encase the pop bumper nest with bands or posts with rubbers to both return the ball to play and prevent wear on the neighboring ball guides and damage to the ball. Re-working the newton ball island may allow you to put bands between the island and your pops. In another spot, you might also put a star post with a band to the left of your ET's targets to keep the upper right flipper's ball from bricking against the right most portion of the orbit ball guide. Last thought: Spinner on the left orbit ball guide?

There is a new stern with a static doll in the back that you can use for inspiration..

Yup. Worst game ever. Al you do is fall in a hole, and you can't get out. Best 2600 games- missile command and yars revenge

And if you’re anywhere near a hole you fall in. And good luck avoiding the agents. What a disappointment I felt after being so excited for it. I haven’t played the updated version.

Best 2600 games besides yars revenge were river raid and pitfall.

    Good list

    Battlezone was amazing
    Kaboom never gets old
    Frogger also ruled
Ms. Pac was a great conversion after the horrors of Pac-Man.

Kaboom and frogger were really good. Ms. Pac-Man was pretty good. Pac-Man was right up there with donkey Kong as my all time biggest disappointments. More so than e.t. The commercials for donkey Kong I remember showed gameplay from the colecovision version which duped me. But I digress.

I was told 1982's Bally BMX was supposed to be an E.T. game & I just confirmed it from https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=335

A glowing finger for a flipper would be pretty sweet

Interesting! I didn't know that. ET will be pointing towards the left orbit for a home shot when lit on his finger.

Awesome idea! Use colored circle inserts for reese's pieces in the outlanes like a trail.

Ol' party-pooper me clicked this thread prepared to say that "neh, the license is too dated and the Atari cart was a flop-o-roonie etc. etc." but after seeing the playfield you already built up and the cute ET character on the target bank in his pajamas, now I gotta say I love it.

    #33 1 year ago

The pitch is around 7.5 and I'm level left to right here. Took me quite a bit of time to weld all this up just right. The diverter is open during multi ball to reload the kicker. I'll have to drop the playfield further in the cab by 1/2 inch to make this work with the glass. Happy father's day guys!

Lol, two totally different movies. In one we see a father abandon his family as it's happening and the other the father has already abandoned his family!. Maybe Spielberg has daddy issues. That said close encounters of the third kind is a giant turd and I would rather play any Homebrew than that game lol.

I got to see this in person this week. It's going to be awesome. One of the coolest things is you can hit the captive ball sending it back to an area that has a flipper and targets. Very *VERY* cool. Can't wait till I can flip it. Keep up the amazing work!

Not going to lie. Super excited about this "anamorphic" pop. It was a PERFECT fit on the ring after drilling the hole in the bottom, I may even have the light come up the top and do a spotlight or something.
