I think I'm finally going to break down and get an Escalera. A few questions:

Is Escalera the best option for moving pins? I know there is another brand out there. Best option?

Assuming Escalera is the best, which model? Which accessories are important? Best vendor for purchasing new? Other tips?

Assuming I get the regular stair-climber, not the forklift, is there a way to carry it from a trailer hitch?

    Quoted from Lermods:

    Ms66 with big wheel attachment.
    Larry's your man.

What about the big toe plate extension?

    Retractable load support?

Should I get one strap or two? three?

Wow, this thing is really heavy. Really wish there was a way to transport the Escalera on the hitch without the forklift attachment. Not sure I'll be using this near as much without that option. Seems like I'm trading lifting a heavy machine for lifting a heavy forklift? How does this save my back?

Has anyone figured out how to transport this thing. It looks like it’s too big for me to use at home, so I figure I’d use it to pick up machines. But, I’d have to attach the forklift monster to transport it on my hitch. Anyone figure out an alternative way to transport this thing? I have a Land Cruiser which has notoriously small cargo area. Not enough room for a machine and the Escalera.

    Quoted from flipnout1:

Yes its easy with the LH-3 lift hitch accessory. If you don't want to take the forklift with you (assuming you have the removable fork lift model) leave it at home. The hand truck by itself is the probably the same size as any other hand truck. Forklift model is 66 inches. Yes it weighs more, 76 lbs without the forklift, but I assume you got this to climb stairs. Take the motor, transmission, and the battery off and you basically have the same weigh as any hand truck.

When it’s on the hitch and you have to get it out, it’s very awkward and heavy. Have you figured out a method to wrestle this thing out of there?

    #76 6 years ago

Seems like you have to lift the thing up to tilt the front down low enough, then pull back to where it will tip out. Maybe a little different angle depending on vehicle details.

    Quoted from JBK:

Powermate is my choice. I use it almost everyday and wouldn't move stuff without it.

    Any hitch-based transport options?

How do you all transport these things? Just use them at home or for picking up games also?

    Quoted from MrBally:

I slide my LectroTruck next to the machine(s) I'm moving in an SUV or pickup truck.

Must be a huge SUV. I have a Land Cruiser, and there’s now way it could fit next to a game even if on it’s side.

Unfortunately, I purchased a fully loaded Escalera just before deciding to slow way down on the hobby. I can’t say I’m done, but I don’t think I need an Escalera at this point. My total cost was ~ $4000 after shipping, tax, etc. Larry was great to work with.

This is essentially the everything-included unit for pinball, with all relevant accessories:

60” Stair-climbing handtruck with removable forklift.
    $2499
    Big wheel attachment, $155
    Big toe plate attachment, $135
    Battery charger, $60
    Extra strap, $99
    Pinball lift attachment, $
    Lift Hitch, $299
    Swivel caster attachment, $135
    Magnum cross-grip, $
    Step-edge detection, $359

I’m still trying to get a breakdown of the individual costs of all the accessories. I am happy to show receipts.

I’ve never moved even one game all the way up stairs with it. $3000 OBO for everything.

Happy to part out, sell some of the accessories separately.

    #109 5 years ago

    I guess mine is a 66”

    #111 5 years ago

    Update to details, thanks Larry:

Removable forklift Staircat with hand winch: $2395
    Big wheel attachment: $150
    Magnum cross-grip handle: $50
    12”x28” Bigtoe plate attachment: $130
    Lift hitch: $275
    Swivel caster attachment: $130
    Step Edge detector kit: $345
Custom Lift Plate Attachment (Pinball plate) 18”x42”: $195
    Extra Rewind Strap: $90
    Freight/Shipping: $235
    Total: $3995

These are my costs, I will discount everything by 20% on individual components, or everything for $3000 (25% off). I am in Colorado Springs.

    #115 5 years ago

Since someone asked...If you just want the main unit with forklift, with no accessories? (Although I think you’re going to want some accessories.)

    Main unit + fork= $2395
    Magnum cross grip= $50
    Extra strap= $90
My Total Cost= $2535 (not counting tax, shipping)
    - 20%
    =$2028, call it $2000 even.

Just realized I had my location hidden. Fixed it. I’m in Colorado Springs, CO.

It's 66". Can't find the serial number tag, where is it? It's not near as tall as me. So, not 72".
