Quoted from ralphwiggum:In my early days of collecting I did a bulk deal for 15 pins and quadrupled my money. Back then, I would have done it again. Now that I have a family, my time is worth way more money than buying and selling machines. If I had time, I would do it again. But it does take time, resources, and space. All of which are at a premium. A couple of years ago I passed on an operator bulk deal in Kentucky for 100 machines. I know for a fact I would have tripled my money, but the thought of renting out a semi and taking a week of my time was something I had zero interest in.
Obviously a lot of the thrill is the hunt. It is super satisfying seeing these sitting just waiting to be picked up. Kudos to Troy for still enjoying the thrill of the hunt after all these years.
Paraphrasing John (stop calling me Cougar) Mellencamp: He just made that story up, there ain't no bulk deal for 100 pins in Kentucky. Just kidding of course, but living here it is surprising that such a deal existed.
Quoted from ralphwiggum:I wish I could find the pictures. He was on the border near Cincinatti. Games were everywhere. Mostly Data East and Gottlieb, but still enough to be profitable for sure.
That was always my thought too.... Why keep doing it if you aren't going to get the games that you want to keep personally, and make money for your time, because it is a ton of work.
Now I'm REALLY curious because that's where I live - suburb of Cincinnati, when was this approximately?
