Nice haul! I am sure that you will find good homes for all those games.
Just tell me you are at least keeping a game or two for yourself.

Quoted from Fytr:Cool story/find for sure.
I dunno about $9500USD for a NIB Tron Pro though. To make it worthwhile you're looking at another $1500 or more for mods alone, and some of them are long out of production themselves, so good luck with that.
But yeah, of course they'll sell anyway.
Lmao at games being “worthwhile” Only with hundreds of dollars worth of garbage installed.
Not everybody wants to dress their games up like $60 whores.

Why is everyone pissed at everyone else in this thread?
Nice find, id love to have a couple of those games.

Tron Pro is a "special case", but yeah, you're right, of course, absolutely.
Quoted from gweempose:Did anyone see what the TWDLE was listed for before it sold?
I was thinking the same thing, this went fast!
For those who are mad or jealous, or feeling like someone was being greedy......just be glad these are no longer sitting in a box in some obscure warehouse, and are now actually out in the pinball community. As far as I am concerned, the OP deserves accolades for rescuing them as a group and getting them out in the hands of people who will appreciate them.
It was indeed an epic haul.....one of the few new threads that actually lives up to the title....lol
Quoted from o-din:A friend of mine unleashed his entire conspiracy theories and endless rants on FB, all the while telling me I needed to join up too. He got kicked off, sent to prison, and they froze his menial bank account.
Is that what I'm in store for too?
You need to find better friends
Quoted from davijc02:These penile enlargement surgeries....are they pretty expensive?
Haha...touche!
Troy is a great guy and a friend of mine. I'm not one to pass on an opportunity though.
On one hand, Facebook is hot garbage; it's the wal-mart of social media.
On the other hand, OP has the right to sell his games however he wants. If I was interested in one I'd just msg him here or make a burner FB account to get 'er done.
I knew when I started looking into this hobby I was in trouble .Hard working blue collar guy who’s whole paycheck funds the family n retirement plans ect ...So I had 1 option , work more. I’ve funded 2 with side jobs about to be 3 and 2 more to go it’s pretty much all my personal time but In the end I saw something I wanted and sacrificed.Great job Troy I’m in your area n hope to do business w you soon best of luck !!

Expensive and EXTENSIVE.

You can’t even spare a rat’s ass, Tom? C’mon man!
I once met Troy in a McDonald’s parking lot. Solid guy and old school. He’s probably wasted more time chasing games than this whole haul is worth. I’m sure the seller was happy to be getting out of Pinball and also know a guy willing you drop that kind of money mostly sight-unseen. Kudos to both of ya!

Sorry i’m jealous.
I couldn’t have a chance to buy one from overseas!
Funny part is that very few here have enough cash to even make this sort of purchase.
When someone is getting out like this, they want it off the books.
Troy works hard for these deals and keep the liquid to make it all happen.
Only thing I am jealous of is the experience. Must be so fun to finally come upon a deal like think.
From everything I have seen, Troy is super honest and straight shooter.
Be happy for the guy that he hit on a big one and that he is getting these out of storage and into collections.
Hi Troy,
I've never met you, but your solid reputation here on Pinside speaks volumes.
1) Congratulations on that find. I am glad your hard work was successful.
2) Good luck on maximizing your revenue from that purchase. It's a great thing to get those incredible machines out to the community.
I too would absolutely love to hear the story behind this when you catch your breath and have the chance to write it out for us.
Hope to have the chance to meet you in the future.

Think we could all find someone to bankroll us if you could make that kind of return.

I wish. It was a fair deal for both sides. The goal is to get my investment back and have 1 or 2 free games depending on which ones I want.
Troy can you share if this was a haul from a private individual, and any back story to what was an eclectic find?
Man, those one or two free games should be the Big Bang Bars. Seems like allot of work on your part to obtain these. You deserve to get what you want out of the deal.

I will share more but I have to word the story wisely as there many things that are private. I actually deal with my clients very respectfully and allot of anonymity. I will actually write a story and have the seller approve before posting.
But I'm still driving trying to get home with it all

Awesome and I can't wait to hear. Congrats on the haul Troy....way to go!!!!
In a perfect world it would be Big Bang bar. But in reality, you put everything up for sale. Then once the investment is recouped you get to choose what's left, or sell it if it's not what you want and buy what you want then

That sounds about the ballpark to me: reading between the lines, asking prices total about 220K, and he paid well into 6 figures (let's say 120K).
My quick estimate of how much you could flip these for easily, before I saw the asking prices, was 150K. But I think I'm low on my NIB premium estimates.
Realistically, probably easily about 40K gross profit / 30% on investment.
Congrats! Should easily be able to keep two of the high end machines and still make some bank.
Fun to speculate...
Quoted from potgar96:Think we could all find someone to bankroll us if you could make that kind of return.
Imagining telling "investors" I need 100K to buy pinball machines and I can double that money, made me LOL.
Maybe if you've got a bunch of rich pinhead friends...

Most of you guys who have never made a "bulk deal" don't realize these deals don't come cheap. When Troy says he is hoping to be able to keep one or two machines "for free" I have no doubt he is being 100% accurate. Maybe a $12,000 profit on the deal in the end once he is done. The days of doubling your money when buying and selling machines are long gone (and rarely ever existed in the first place). For every deal with the potential to make a huge return there are 1000 deals made with a 10% return (and that is if you are lucky and everything goes right).
Something else everyone looking for the outside forgets is how much personal sacrifice is made when doing a deal like this. Hundreds of hours spend searching out these deals, days of driving to pick one up when you find one (in most cases), laying out huge amounts of money hoping to make a few dollars in the end, and so on. Also the time lost making and picking up a deal like this is also income lost if you were home doing what you typically would be doing to make money. Then their is the cost of owning a truck or trailer (and the tow vehicle if you are using a trailer). If you don't own a truck or trailer and rent you have rental cost for the vehicle. Etc.
People from the "outside" looking at a deal like this keep thinking "how lucky the buyer was" but knowing what I know (being the buyer of several bulk deals over the years) I can tell you 100% for sure 95% of the time in the end it really wasn't worth all the time - effort - and work involved. And even when things work out great there is a price to pay with the wear & tear you put on your body abusing it like you have to moving a bunch of machines a lot of miles. There is also the stress involved with having a ton of cash invested hoping things come out OK in the end until you are finally in the black with the deal. Typically that takes at least a month or more when a dozen or more machines are involved.
I guarantee most people who have done it once will never do it again! It isn't as easy as it looks and Troy or anyone else who takes the risk truly deserves any profit they might make. I don't know Troy but I wish him luck & safe travels. I just wish people who don't understand would give guys like Troy a break when it comes to "easy money" - bulk deals are not easy money and in most cases were some of the hardest money I have ever made.

In my early days of collecting I did a bulk deal for 15 pins and quadrupled my money. Back then, I would have done it again. Now that I have a family, my time is worth way more money than buying and selling machines. If I had time, I would do it again. But it does take time, resources, and space. All of which are at a premium. A (more than) couple of years ago I passed on an operator bulk deal in Kentucky for 100 machines. I know for a fact I would have tripled my money, but the thought of renting out a semi and taking a week of my time was something I had zero interest in.
Obviously a lot of the thrill is the hunt. It is super satisfying seeing these sitting just waiting to be picked up. Kudos to Troy for still enjoying the thrill of the hunt after all these years.
I am wondering if the two BBBs have ever been played. When I bought mine from Gene, I went to his place to pick it up. There were four BBBs set up, including a BBB gold that I had to choose from. There was also a King Pin set up, but it was not for sale. I don’t know if most were boxed, but I do know that a few were not.

Paraphrasing John (stop calling me Cougar) Mellencamp: He just made that story up, there ain't no bulk deal for 100 pins in Kentucky. Just kidding of course, but living here it is surprising that such a deal existed.

Listen I don’t speculate on another mans business deal (and let’s be clear...this is business) but you’re smokin rocks if you think he did this to net $12k. The “free” machines you are eluding to would be the amount of the BBB’s at the minimum (definitely more).

I imagine it's a ton of work, but I always smile a bit when I read of guys that do the containers/bulk deals telling everyone it really isn't worth it...
...then they then keep doing it. Beating down the potential competition?

I wish I could find the pictures. He was on the border near Cincinatti. Games were everywhere. Mostly Data East and Gottlieb, but still enough to be profitable for sure.

That was always my thought too.... Why keep doing it if you aren't going to get the games that you want to keep personally, and make money for your time, because it is a ton of work.

Now I'm REALLY curious because that's where I live - suburb of Cincinnati, when was this approximately?
