Hey guys, I’m a fairly new pinball fan, about two years into the hobby. Grew up in the 90s during the dmd heyday and after revisiting pinball now in my early 30s I’m very into the 78-90 era solid state machines. But, after visiting VFW in Michigan last weekend, I’m giving the EM’s more interest. Really loved the mid 60s- early 70s Bally zipper flipper games (fireball, joust, dogies, four million bc, etc) and the 50s wood rails are very cool (Niagara, Mermaid, Knock Out) Not much else was doing it for me. What am I missing? What are some iconic machines I need to give some attention in the future?

Hey guys, I appreciate the responses today! So far, definitely digging Christian Marche’s artwork a lot! I was familiar with several of his games. Grand Prix and Space Mission/ Odyssey are really cool. I’m drawn to the space and sci-fi themes a lot, I have to try out Target Alpha and Centegrade 37! I also love the tiki/ tropical/ surf themes, which is as sixties as it gets. And as for Bally’s being hot... before a month ago, Fireball and Captain Fantasic were probably the only EMs I could tell you by name. I knew Gottlieb was king before the solid state era but didn’t know their games. It’s always exciting to open a new chapter of exploration. So thank you for your input!

I was watching some gameplay vids of Grand Prix and seeing how satisfying those spinner lanes are, I can see why. It plays fast!
