Quoted from Octomodz:I am a 30 something, considered a millennial and have never had an issue getting paid great. The biggest problem with companies is they expect someone to come in and bust their ass for 8 hours straight(with most expecting them to go above and beyond) for peanuts. I have been lucky (and some not luck, but ability to adapt) that my work day consists of me making sure everything I need to do is done. If it takes me 4 hours, then thats what I work that day.
Lots of older generations have issues with this and this is what pushes most younger individuals away. I don't want to spend my entire day working. If I can do what you can do in half the time, I should not be expected to do twice as much as you.
This. My first gig out of high school (before you millennials were born ) was at an arcade, where my job was to show up (at least) once a day and fix anything that wasn't working; when everything worked, I was free to leave, or free to use my master key to play a few games.
Once I had everything in the place dialed in, I could "work" for 5 minutes most days, although I'd certainly be there longer, and therefore likely to be able to fix a "new" problem within the hour (as opposed to having a machine shut off, which my bosses quite rightfully hated).
As long as all the machines were still sucking quarters, they didn't care how I did it or how long it took. Perfect job.
