Just curious if anyone knows if Tony Ramunni attends any shows? Is he still with us?? I can't find much on Google on him. He's my favorite pinball artist next to John Youssi.

No sound on mine, just picked it up. any suggestions on what to check first. Ive heard new sound roms for these are a must???

Just after opinions as to whether Medusa and Embryon are worth the same in a trade (assuming same condition) or is there a +/- cash element. 1,000 less Embryons made but Medusa seems to be higher rated?

I would consider them pretty equal. Embryon is a little harder to find and both are hard to get in good condition. Both are very unique games with a lot to do.

anybody got a embryon backglass, doesn't have to be perfect

The sound board probably needs to recapped.

I do but I'm too far away

#410 3 years ago

I got an embryon! Worked fine except the audio was missing some sounds.....until I slid it over about 4 feet. When I turned it on it now just says tilt....the CPU flashes once, then 5 times. A fuse on the selenoid driver board blew....The audio reset button has sounds when pressed. I'm not too worried about the sound, there is enough info on replacing caps that I feel I can tackle that...but I don't know what to do about the tilt.
I visually checked all the switches and connectors throughout the machine and on the boards...I was going to get replacement boards anyways , but if anyone has had same problems let me know

Great news...
I'm heading over to Cliffy's in two weeks to see how we can improve on these ball-hoppin flipper return frames that come stock with Embryon. =)
I'll announce another update after I've tested the prototype in 6-8 weeks or so.

I am not sure what you are trying to fix, the swinging gates?

Hi guys

Looking for a backglass if anyone has one they're willing to sell lemme know! Cheers!

#419 2 years ago

anyone have this problem? When I finally get the ball locked in the saucer, ready for multiball, once it goes in and locks and then the next ball is supposed to be ejected into the shooter lane, to continue playing, sometimes the second ball does not eject and the game just sits there and I can't continue playing.
Thanks for any help!

#420 2 years ago

Does that top saucer ever not acknowledge the ball?

#421 2 years ago

just confirm, you are only playing a one player game when this happens? If not look at the apron and see if a light is flashing saying press a flipper to release the ball.

#422 2 years ago
Quoted from embryon:

yep, when in test mode I can roll the ball into the saucer and it kicks it out everytime. I'm definitely only in one player mode.
It doesn't happen all the time but happens enough to be a problem.
Only thing I've been able to do to continue playing is pull the glass and activate the ball switch with my finger where the balls are held to kick out the 2nd ball.
Really frustrating.
Thanks for any help, I'm not very experience at troubleshooting.

#423 2 years ago

The twin outhole switches are an oddball arrangement. Confirm the machine reliably sees two balls when they are there. Always popping out of the saucer seems to say that switch is okay. Embryon is not all that smart, it can start a game with one ball already in the shooter lane so it is happy to ignore some switches without complaint. My guess is the main outhole switch. Reach in through the door and toggle it when it happens next.

trying to get cpr considering doing this title..
i dont think its going to happen in the near furure..
would have saved me some hours

Might put my Embryon up for sale, was hoping for input on the pricing? Everything works, sound board was gone through, rest of the boards are ok, displays are good, backglass had lifting that was taped over, plastics are ok, probem is the playfield is worn to wood in middle & near upper drop bank however the entire playfield was mylared over after it wore to wood so it actually plays fine. Was debating waiting for a donor playfield to surface but now I'm not sure if I want to wait it out. Any input is appreciated!

#434 2 years ago

well, as you know embryon is a well sougt after pinball machine.
you might regret selling for a low price.
you could considder keeping it, and restoring the pf (look at my pf, it was very bad to.. )
or wait fot cpr to do it in the future.

good luck

Might need to post some pictures for people to give you a better sense of an estimated worth. Here is a thread I started asking about the value of mine (which I ended up keeping): https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/price-check-embryon. Prices ranged, but people where thinking somewhere between $1400-$2200.

Yes that is the debate for me. It is a very cool machine with a lot of neat features that in nice condition would normally be out of my price range. Unfortunately I do not have your impressive skills so I'd be waiting for a donor playfield or if CPR would eventually do them.

Edit: Added some pics, the playfield surface is aesthetically terrible but fully functional so I think people would have to see it to gauge correctly. As I said, any input on the value would be appreciated.

Thinking about picking up a embryon, anyone seen a playfield for sale or overlay ??
Thanks

I seen you were in PA and was but unfortunately without a new playfield/backglass and no one with current plans to reproduce them this one is a tough sell unless you get someone with the skill to restore the current playfield!

We'll see I guess, playfields come up every now & then. This is never going to be a restored museum piece but rather a player. There was a line of people looking to purchase this when I got it but unfortunately the gameplay hasn't grown on me.

Yeah dont get me wrong someone will buy it! I was just hoping it was in better condition as I am actually heading your way this weekend and thought it would be great to find one that I didn't have to go out of the way for! I went as far as looking for a NOS playfield as if I could find one I would certainly be interested in your game!

Great news Embryon owners.

I've installed and tested the enhanced flipper return frames from Cliff, and they are fantastic.
He took the initiative to not just enhance them in making them slightly "taller" into the lane, they are even slightly longer -- inching closer towards the flippers, which reduces ball hop even further, by getting that tiny corner lip out a little more over the flipper "hinge"

They are available for purchase today.

Very cool. Thanks for posting that. The lack of even flow onto the flipper had me looking for solutions already. Gladly Cliff took care of that.

Do you have a price and/or link?

#443 2 years ago

+1 I did not see it on his site

#444 2 years ago

Thanks to mof for the testing and video review. I dont have them on my site yet as I still have no pictures to post there - just a pic of the frames themselves. $20 a pair and as always just email me at crinear@comcast.net with a shipping address, phone and paypal email so I can send an invoice.

Thanks again to mof for the originals I used to make a better set. Also, they are in mill finish (mof has these) which can be left as is or polished or a light grained version, pic I'm attaching here

so I'm contemplating joining the club. What's a cosmetically decent Embryon going for? It's not 100% working, but that's just my time that's needed there.

#447 2 years ago

Havent seen one for sale in awhile, most of us are sitting tight. Guessing $1500ish for a decent condition player.

So here's some details. I picked this up from someone who had kept it as a project and just didn't have the time to finish it. Not that I do, but looks like it could be fun. They had owned the game for close to a decade. They picked it up as a project because ALL of the wiring had been snipped. If you look closely at some of the pictures you can see the heat shrink on the cables. They took the time to trace each one, solder, and shrink them. Amazing effort on their part!

But I was told that there was an overvoltage issue when they tried to power it on, that's where they stopped. Fried the power supply. So I need to start at step 1 and figure out what's wrong.

But on the other hand, they already shopped the game. New rubbers, LEDs, star posts....
