I'm currently shopping out an Embryon and was wondering what folks thought about the lighting. I tried LEDs in my Paragon, but did not like it at all! I have seen some nice pics of Embryon with both. Any feedback from those that have tried both?

Thanks,

Gotcha,

You would want to take a peak at this:

Both games wont work with LEDs, without this add on board, or as there are threads, soldering your own resistors, or building your own board.

Vid has been helping us develop a bulb that would eliminate the need for all of the above...we are awaiting another round of samples for testing.

With any of the solutions above, LEDs can look great, from me or anyone, its really a matter of brightness choice.

IMO, there are 2 schools of thought...one, trying to keep the game as close to original, which I would recommend a 6mm Retro.
However, I like a little more light and Pop, and I would recommend a 2 LED..the ones that have the two resin diodes inside, not Surface mounted Diodes...SMD.

But ultimately, its your taste in Brightness that counts, and the choice of of Electronic Patch to allow them to function correctly.

Cointaker also has the board available too.
Vid has a thread on building your own...

Hope this helps.

I ended up going with the incandescent bulbs to the Embryon for now. I'm waiting for my MPU to be repaired. Once the game is up and going, I may switch out a few here and there, but since I now have three Classic bally Wide Body games, I decided to keep them all incandescent/original.

Thanks for the feedback!

I don't think I could switch it back.

Incandescent all the way.

Running LEDs in my Embryon (along with the xpin 7volution score displays). I could never go back either.

If you're interested in running LED's in your Embryon, I also have my adapter boards available.
Only about a dozen sets left from the initial run.

NoFlix Plus LED's all over. I'm a bit hesitant though to change the GI's to colored LED's and use dimmed ones instead. However, I experimented with putting colored flashers in the life support chamber (2x green, 2x yellow and 2x red) and it looks amazing when completing E-M-B-R-Y-O-N and especially during the multiball startup sequence if you have the v9 HOME ROMs.

I'm in the middle of doing a switch to comet 2-LED natural. Since I'm halfway through, I took a picture to share in case anyone wants to see what a direct comparison looks like.

All done. I like the natural (cooler) lights.

And a vote for incandescent.

Looks great both ways, no doubt.
