Quoted from paulace:Mopar - I love add-a-balls too, especially for home play, but only have Flipper Pool so far. I restored a 1962 Friendship 7 for a friend, which is a fun aab. Sea_Wolf has a Lucky Hand, which is a great one!
StoneyCreek - I like Gottlieb's flipper design back in the mid-70's - they used good parts in all their mechs (with the possible exception of spinners). Not long after, everyone started going to DC flippers, so they became more powerful. If you're going to rebuild yours, just get all the slop out of it, put in new sleeves and bushings - well, just get a flipper rebuild kit from PBR. And if you still want a bit more power, Steve Young sells orange dot and yellow dot coils that are more powerful than the original A-5141 coils. I've never needed to try the yellow dot - orange dot has been plenty powerful enough for me.
Thanks for the tips, I will check with PBR on getting some replacement sleeves etc. ! While it is fairly straightforward to roll Card Whiz on 5 balls, it sure is fun to try and get all the bonus target combos, all the jokers and nail the special. Very accessible game.
