Quoted from jrpinball:

I'll set it aside for now and will consider what you guys have suggested before tearing into it.

My suggestion is hold onto it and think about taking it to Allentown. I'm sure someone who likes woodrails will be interested and if they want to invest in a glass they can choose to.

I'm not much of woodrail guy and I'm not sure how parts go for them, but if it helps make your game room better you have to consider it. Just sucks making that hard decision to part out a game.

#7960 7 years ago
Quoted from jrpinball:

If I brought it to Allentown, it would come full circle. It has occurred to me that this is the very same one that my friend Mike from NJ brought to and sold at the Allentown flea market a couple of years ago.

here you go haha

Quoted from leckmeck:

I finished my Gold Strike restoration last weekend. It was a big project. The previous owner stored the machine in a shed on wet ground, so the bottom rotted off, mice moved in, and lots of rusting happened. I had to give it a donor cabinet, a Wade Krause playfield, a Shay backglass, and a lot of love to make it nice again.

Incredible game room and pins. I really like the lighting in the ceiling.

Nice work on the Surf Champ! Real fun machine to play too. Curious to see how the rest turns out. Have you found a donor head yet?

#8647 7 years ago

Centigrade 37 and Golden Arrow are fantastic looking machines and pretty good players. They're on the easier side for wedgeheads (GA is a little harder to hit specials if you can't plunge the 2 or 3), but I enjoy both and they keep me coming back to play. Especially after playing Drop-A-Card and wanting to hit my head against the wall. That is the most deceptive wedgehead in my opinion.

#8649 7 years ago
Quoted from boilerman:

drop a card is a game that can play its self at times (due to the sling kickers).
pop a card is the better of the two

Agreed. I don't mind not being able to trap the ball on the flipper (love 2" flipper games), but when I do get a flip it's so unaimed on this machine for some reason. So satisfying when you can get that rare game with all targets down, hit a few specials, and actually have a good score.

Nice job! Was that for Jacks or Lucky?

Since we are still waiting to see this big reveal I'll share one of my grails that I was lucky to find a few months ago. ALL original Strange World

What's your serial no. and plays on meter?

Thanks! I seem to be adding pins left and right... got to strike while the iron is hot I guess.

Pro Football is an ok game. I preferred Gridiron (still just ok) because of the 2-player competition. The art on Pro Football's backglass is nice and wedgeheads are great, but if I had to choose I would pick Gridiron. I love wedgeheads, but enjoy having multiplayers too

I wish Pinside bought me a pinball machine. Must be nice.

Boilerman is a great guy! I don't know what Otaku is talking about?

He helps everyone out with painting, mechanical tips, parts that people need, and is a wizard with restorations. Not to mention that he is a very honorable person. Right now he is holding a machine for me until I find the time to get over to his house. Why haven't I had the time? Well, it's because I started a new career, after working my butt off in college, and I'm currently busy going through the training phase.

What happened to working hard for something and not just expecting it handed to you?

Otaku, you might be a good guy, but you're not helping that case right now. If I can give you some advice I hope you can mature soon and respect the people in this fun and great hobby. I'm sure you have the ability.

Since this is the Show Us Your EM Pinball Machines thread, here are some rewards for hard work and determination...

Quoted from jrpinball:

I saw your Dad briefly at the show, but didn't see you. I also met "boilerman" for the first time. Nothing like I pictured him, but he's aces!
You have a great looking collection there!

I must have slipped away to play Ghostbusters and Simpsons Pinball Party at the time. I saw your brother, but must have just missed seeing you. Love the EM's and especially Wedgeheads, but also like to play some of the newer titles at the shows. I really enjoyed playing Subway and North Star. Couldn't hit the target on Subway when I finally lined it up for a ball, but was able to put up a bigger score on the Flipper Pool in the other row.

Quoted from Mcshaney:

Hey Phillips88 in your honest opinion what game plays better jacks open or golden arrow had a chance on a golden arrow about a month ago for 350 held off and got a jacks open for 300 I'm picking up Saturday in Jersey .

I enjoy Golden Arrow's gameplay, but I think everyone will agree with me in saying Jacks Open is the superior choice. You made the right decision.

I had almost the same decision presented to me and was lucky enough to go with both. Love the art on each of them and they look great in the collection, but Jacks Open is the better player

#8968 6 years ago
Quoted from jrpinball:

You have a great looking collection there!

Thanks!

I've been on a mission to acquire my top 10...12...13. It's been a case of strike while the iron is hot lately, but it's been a long search for a lot of them. Most are all original with fantastic, near perfect glasses. There are a few repro glasses in the mix because it's impossible to find some specific machines with a nice glass. Only two repaints in the mix and patiently looking for upgrades.

Right now the collection is combined with my Dad's (30 in total) and I feel it's one of the best home collections. I'm just happy we share such a fun hobby and I could help him find machines that he played as a kid and never dreamed of possibly ever owning.

Quoted from ryansherwood:

And how about that Bristol Hills! Stunning and a fun game. Wish I took a picture of the whole game but here's my best score of the many games I played on that one.

Was that the same one from York this year? Dad has had one for a long time and it's been awesome to see them pop up at the shows!

#8975 6 years ago

Bowling Queen was great too! I was only able to get to 10 with 1 out lane left on each side and on last ball drained down the left side that I had already acquired.

#9037 6 years ago
Quoted from PinballFever:

What do you consider more exciting gameplay and why?
Paul Bunyan has a lot of non-stop action with the flippers at bottom, middle and top.
(My wife likes it for this reason. She gets bored with some games waiting for the ball to come back down to the flippers as it bounces around the top or middle of the playfield)
The backglass was done by one of my favorite "cartoony character" style pinball artists, Art Stenholm, and is in great condition.

I enjoy playing the machine. It has some tough shots and the A-B-C sequence needs to be completed in order. The game has an entertaining sequence of A-B-C that then trying to hit the target to light the roll under for extra ball and 500 points. It isn't the best machine but definitely enhances the collection and has fantastic art on the backglass!

Picked this up today. Wasn't really looking for one, but couldn't pass up on the price. Happy that I did because it turned out really nice after cleaning it up and it's a fun player. Hundred point bell sounds awesome when hit for 500 points!

So I'm talking to Todd Tuckey at Pintastic last night and asked him, "I know you're really not into EMs & hate selling them and all, but I gotta ask, what's your favorite?
His answer: Pretty Baby.
Said he fell in love with her face a long time ago and it has a special place in his heart. Nice!

What an obscure title to be his favorite. It's actually a decent machine and tough when playing against someone because you can steal the points for the cups and need to hit the targets to open them back up. Best feature on the old Williams machines is extra replays for double matching. I have it set to 10 and when you double match it goes wild with POPS!!!!

Picked up this nice looking Fun Land. Original backglass is perfect, playfield should clean up nice, low plays on the counter, cabinet looks good, even had the 5 and 10 cent coin mechs. Never played this game before, should be a nice little project.

Glad to see another funland fan phillips88,now I bug you if I need some pics.ha ha.likewise you can pm me if you need anything.good deal.

Quoted from goldenboy232:

I had a Funland and really liked it. My kids loved it. Unfortunately, I wanted a 2001 more and so I sold the Funland to free up room (and $) for the 2001. Which I then subsequently traded for a Lucky Hand.
Anyway, you'll like it a lot! Very pretty playfield.

Thanks!

One of the score reels has a contact that is broken off. I'll be looking for a score reel to replace it with. The ones I have in my parts bin are all the later 70's model.

#10482 6 years ago

The contact on the bottom of the score reel that is opened when the plunger is pulled into the coil. Not sure of the name for that contact.

Quoted from goldenboy232:

I believe that’s the end of stroke switch. Send a pic of the broken switch and of the whole score reel unit. I mighty have an extra and if not I’m sure someone on here does.

Ok I wanted to call it an end of stroke switch but wasn't sure if that was just for the flipper end of stroke switch
