G'day from Australia. Just discovered Pinside and this amazing thread.

Congrats to everyone on their beautiful machines....I have never seen a lineup like this and I'm only at page 25. Just one gorgeous thing after another and so far I have seen the lions share of my collection all sparkling and pristine.... No pics from me yet but I'm just about to start 6 weeks of holidays and have a ton of work to do and I'll be sharing a bunch of pics eventually.

I'd like to do a shoutout to aussiepinball.com which has made owning e/ms a reality for me. A really talented and friendly crew that help keep the Aussie pinball scene tight knit, generous and knowledgeable. Special mention to Mitch Styles aka Mr Pinbologist, my local guru. Check out his YouTubes and detailed how to's at aussiepinball. I own 4 of his restores and would take more if he had them.

I'm primarily into 70s 3" flipper preferably wedgeheads but anything with chimes. My collection in no particular order:

1972 GTB outer space: 2 player in poor condition-Nice b/g restore by Mitch who's currently doing the playfield. for a cabinet repaint and eventual total cosmetic job as it's my grail pin....Currently looks like roadkill and smells like a rats toilet....a great player with a killer backglass.

1961 GTB Big Casino. Has had a restore but is far from original with a different cabinet design, multiball(!) and repositioned flippers. Lots of repro plastic including a pinballrescue.com plastics set. A shoutout here to Lee who has sold me a ton of repro plastics all beautiful quality and very faithful. My only 2" model because it's my birthday pin (July '61).A fun player if you are prepared to use some brute force and a very pretty special light.

1976 GTB Volley: Unrestored, needs a p/f tidy and Mylar. Excellent backglass, cabinet needs a respray. New plastics to be fitted. Great player but cosmetically sad.

1975 GTB Abra Ca Dabra: A Mr Pinbologist restored machine. Mitch honed his skills early on in the piece on this one. Known as "Old Smoothy" a lovely machine to play. B/g a little fade but otherwise very clean, lovely mylared p/f. New Pinball Rescue plastics. Never disappoints, always brings out my best playing instincts.

1977 Zaccaria Universe: 4 player, high end restoration by Mr Pinbologist. A beautiful player, one of my favorites, fast, great simple ruleset. Incredibly lurid colored playfield (been described as looking like "the killing floor in a unicorn slaughterhouse") Everyone loves Universe.

1971 WMS Klondike. Another Mr pinbologist restored machine. fun and tricky, currently set to add a ball. backglass has a few faults but it is very tidy otherwise.

1972 WMS Superstar: My 1st pin, messy but original with a pretty degraded backglass. For and eventual facelift and getting a p/f spruceup shortly to protect the very good bits and repair the insert wear. The fastest, trickyest game I own, underrated with some excellent shots.

1976 WMS Space Odyssey: Currently sitting in a barn in Cootamundra, 1000km from home. bought unseen from another forum member to save it from the scrappers...I've managed to track down a NOS wms plastics set and a half decent b/g for eventual restoration. Needs a lift home to be with it's friends.

1974 GTB Sky Jump. picked this up last week on Ebay. Rough as hell and another rats toilet, currently drenched in Febreeze but will probably need a deep steam clean to purge the smell. I'm currently teaching myself to trace faults and do jobs like clean and rebuild steppers....still won't start. Really good b/g but p/f is planked and the last person to pull up the mylar took a fair amount of artwork with it.. this machine needs a ton of love but I'm prepared to give it my best shot as it's such an iconic 70's title.

1978 GTB Hit The Deck: Picked this up on Ebay a couple of days ago for a reasonable price...looks like a very clean example...for delivery this coming week...you can imagine my excitement. I did not expect my offer to be considered and it was a little tricky bring it up with my wife (who is actually just as pleased)...Will be getting professional advice about sorting this one out. I found Pinside while researching this one so that's got to be a good omen

1973 GTB High Hand: Currently being totally restored by APR in Melbourne. My other grail pin. Nino at APR is one of the top restorers in Australia. He's been having problems with this one but the work so far has been stunning. To my mind the most beautiful pinball ever made and a great player. I want to be buried in this machine.

Lots of words, no photos so thanks for reading this far. give me time. I still have 50 pages of e/ms to drool over.

If anyone has a 1969 GTB Wild Wild West 2 player they want to part with drop me a line at [email protected]

Also cheers to Rat-Tomago for a great thread(the best e/m thread I've ever seen) as well as being named after a cool as hell guitar solo by St Francis DeZappa

#3603 9 years ago

Is that the one currently on Ebay?...looks clean and a reasonable price....me, I'm all out of $$$ but Pro Football is on the list

#3605 9 years ago

looks to have gone now...was asking 1700 I think

#3610 9 years ago

That's an echidna.

Green Echidna was a proposed name for a business selling spikey coastal plants we were setting up a while back

We get echidnas in our garden and they are amazing. One of two egg laying mammals (monotremes) and appears on the Australian 5 cent coin.

No FZ reference here but I will offer up Yo Mama as the top track on SY and favorite album being Hot Rats.

“Interviewer: 'So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?'
Frank Zappa: 'You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?”

Dude actually did have a wooden leg and was a huge d*ckhead.

"Sofa" instrumental, "I'm the Slime", "Willie The Pimp" "Dog Breath" etc

We appear to have been separated at birth.....

I think Dweezil and Vai have done a nice job keeping the show on the road though we have lost a true genius and uncommonly decent man who cannot be truely replaced

#3614 9 years ago

Yeah, incredibly cute till you hit one in the middle of the night and demolish your steering /suspension.
Those things are built like tree stumps.

Never ever drive fast at night in the country here....They're just cueing up to destroy you.

That wombat would weigh 80-100 kilo as it's all muscle.

better show a pic....excuse the mess

DSC_0225.JPGDSC_0225.JPG
#3618 9 years ago

I suspect that's been shopped as that is abnormally huge and would weigh too much for one man. I'll stand corrected if there's other pics. Marsupials are vegetarians thank god but wombats have 2 huge front teeth like chisels that'l take off a finger as well as long tough claws

Here's the Zacc Universe...I'm having a clean & wax day tomorrow so I'll get a few more clearer pics

#3620 9 years ago

All 240v, assumed they are all Aust delivered except Big Casino which the previous owner converted from 110v

#3664 9 years ago

Yeah, I'm stoked with the Pro F and I've even seen a Wild Wild West in the for sale section, so Pinside has been a nice find for me.

Finally got Sky Jump resetting and playing all 5 balls. So far I've unruined the ball count unit and a decagon unit. Now to work through the bonus system and make everything score properly.

#3665 9 years ago

Appears mice ate the wire to the bonus bank reset coil....replaced that and everything came back. Chimes done but knocker still held on so replay unit next, which appears to be held together with filth and rat urine.....yay

#3687 9 years ago

This turned up today...Not too bad, a bit of planking, insert wear, grubby. B/g a little faded around the 10 of diamonds otherwise unmarked

31000 plays

Chaos reigns.

#3709 9 years ago

Last coat of paint is up except 1/2 of the ceiling.
Then working ones (8) on one side, dead ones (2) on the other.

#3710 9 years ago

First time I've found one of these. It was screwed into the top of the backbox keeping the glass snug

DSC_0266.JPGDSC_0266.JPG
#3735 9 years ago

Interesting info re: double ringing....Volley drops being straight on and close in- I've already got a broken one...will also do Sky Jump.

Congrats on your Atlantis arriving Wayne....beautiful low mileage example.

#3736 9 years ago

Less chaotic today....still working out the order.

#3739 9 years ago

Is that the Capersville that was at Pinfest 2012? Great player with zipper flipers and multiball. Really good art too

#3750 9 years ago

1975 was a good year.
Started scraping the nastiness off Outer Space today.

DSC_0014.JPGDSC_0014.JPG
#3751 9 years ago

Not that there's anything wrong with the 60's....sweet lineup Rat

#3752 9 years ago

Roughly 110000 machines made in '75 so it was a good year for the manufacturers too.

#3923 9 years ago

I'd recommend Volley..it appears to be one of the few wedgeheads you haven't owned.

#3992 9 years ago

Yeah, it's a rarely regretted purchase and usually a much mourned loss. I was amazed/stoked when I was offered a reasonable example.

My weekend find, got from a good dude in Delaware.IMG_1317.JPG (Click image to enlarge)IMG_1316.JPG (Click image to enlarge)

Sweet example.
My SJ now playing through after reintegrating a disintegrated latch relay last week....still on Hi Tap due to sad n nasty flippers but everything works now ....what a great game. New plastics ordered but it's really poor cosmetically and I'm wondering whether it's worth the effort

Some lovely pics of the Gottlieb factory in 1971...is that my Outer Space?

Bally Surfer b/g made my heart skip a beat.....what a gem!

First Ive heard of Jerry Kelly the artist. He did Capersville and Beat Time as well which I thought were Christian Marche pieces.

e: Looks like Kelly did artwork for Ballys German export market
e3: and now I want a Wiggler......

Nice Capersville(s).

1st time I've seen the English version, the ones in Australia I know about are German Imports.

Quoted from hoov:

Thanks for sharing that game.
That looks like the aab to Outer Space even though it's a 2P - same playfield

Missing the bottom gate back to the shooter lane, also advance bonus ring is different.

this makes 4 different versions (tiger, OS, orbit and Super orbit(SS))

Someone at Gottlieb liked this playfield a lot.

I like the ruleset....quite different to OS

nice score

Where do you find all these top shelf titles Wayne? Imports?

Again, you have all the best stuff and I'm envious as hell.

#5581 8 years ago

Wow....what a page!

Eye candy overdose

Someone show me a Spinout and a 4Square to round things out....

#5592 8 years ago

Beautiful 4Square....what a great piece of glass..the playfield looks great when on special...all those lit numbers in the midfield

Spinout looks best in the dark..... the way the backlighting picks out just a few of the designs

#5617 8 years ago

This thread is such a two edged sword.

Forever cursed to want, want, want.

#5631 8 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

The LED's in those look out of place IMHO.
But to each their own.

I'd usually agree but going to make an exception on this due to the color palette and temp of Strato/Super Flite, which is kind of cold/frosty to start with.
I bet those bumper caps look especially cool in the flesh.

Starting to clean up the Wiggler. Lots of old brown wax coming off, revealing plenty of original gloss and nice bright colors. Using Isocol on makeup removal pads and very gentle magic eraser on the tinwear.

Is there a dedicated cleaning thread here? A bunch of do's and don'ts would be helpful and before and after shots can be pretty satisfying

First time I think I’ve ever seen the cabinet paint actually match the backglass paint. It’s incredibly striking! Excellent work!

I remember how Grand Slam really stood out in a lineup

I got a trolley a little while ago which allows you to drag n drop machines till you get a nice line. I tried to group them but eventually a random mix felt best. The wedgeheads sort of just clumped together. All the really sad ones hang out together in the laundry

Quoted from RWH:

Love the Four Million BC bg, post some pics of the pf. How's the game play?

This machine was picked up hopefully as a trade for another Bally either Capersville, Cosmos or Surfer, though Id consider anything Ted Zale.
It needs love but has a NOS backglass, good plastics and internals.
Play is ok, the skill shot is great, there's not a lot of planning in play, just bash them around. A bit of a drainer
Art is pretty much what you'd find in a kids illustrated book of knowledge which is where I suspect it was lifted from.
Its ok and as a multiball, tends to get noticed in an EM lineup.
I much prefer my Wiggler
