It’s so worth it DanMarino. From your videos and also owning a Time Zone you tune a pin in exactly as they should run, hot and fast. Get rid of the cupped inserts and EM’s scream with ball speed AND accuracy.
And the pin is good for another 50 years
I appreciate the compliment. I do enjoy getting these pinball machines up and running. I need to tear down my Fireball and add some more layers of clear to the playfield. It got to a point where I just wanted to play the thing. I sprayed a bunch of clear, but it has some problems. So I'll go at it again at some point in time.
I would also like to preserve my El Dorado playfield, so I will likely clear that at some point. I like how mrm_4 clears his motor/relay boards, so I also want to give that a try.
My Bally Time Zone is pretty fun and since I got it for $200 I don't mind messing with it. It might be the next one to get torn down and cleared. I'm going to add some music to it for sure and do that motor/relay board.
So I'll give it a go eventually. Most of my winter I'll be putting up some walls and a door in our unfinished side of the basement to create a pinball room.
With the cost of pinball machines, I'm likely to become an EM guy. My pinball room isn't going to be very large, so that will limit my collection. I am thinking I will work on making the machines I already own as nice as I can. I'm still not sure I want to mess with repainting cabinets and heads though. We will see how bored I get. haha.
