Lets see some of that Hi-Lo Ace
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:BTW I still have room for 2 more machines in this room and then I have a whole other bedroom (nursery size) that will fit another 3 or 4 machines.
Yeah that's what you say now, pretty soon you will be blowing out walls, moving stairwells, burning diningroom furniture, and pitching the couch to the curb to make more room...
Oh, I forgot. the elusive second mortgage for the addition !
if you have a garage, and currently use it for your car, keep in mind that that too will soon come to an end !
Your car will be outside
Nope, i thought i could get all the pics loaded and post by now, but i will soon...
I will be starting another thread about this machine too, as the resto process is fairly well documented...
Bear with me
Well, good news for me..
A few days ago i finished up my Hi-LO-Ace resto project, and its hot rodded a bit..boy is it fast now..Feeeeewwww its screamin !
It was a ton of work, and came out great..pic to follow, such a pain in the ass to upload the 100 pics i have of the process in one sitting.. but i will get them posted here..
Good news # 2..
Just picked up my new to me Hurdy Gurdy tonight...plays 100% with a 99.5 BG, and a 99.9 PF..cab is 7-8 i do believe..i may be undervaluing that one, you guys can decide that for me..
Cool, cool game..in need of a shop and mild cleanup, but thats it.. cant wait to get started on that...
Good news #3..
Also on the way home i picked up a Gottlieb World Series, from ScottinSGF'sNY, a good freind of mine, and that is gonna be the next big resto project... the game will be a challenge but i will make it mint...
I sure's do love me some Add-A-Ball's ! LOL
I actually have to go to work tomarrow, but i will get some pics posted for ya'll....

I have been bitten by that EM bug..i am so screwed now !.. i need a bigger house or a pole barn.. LOL
unfortunaley is used a laquer base for the color, and the clear made it bleed some, i cleared it too soon.. the blue is kinda jacked up now, but overall, for the pile it was i am not gonna strip and redo it, the rest of the PF was super nice really, and cleaned up really great...
Acrylics next time for sure !
Thanks, the Gurdy is gonna be great !
we will see how much i like this WS when done i have had one before that i thought was a bit boring..
But it wasnt tweaked like i know how to teak games now, as a matter of fact WS was the first pin i ever bought back in the day..
This one makes round 2 !
Orange dots going into Hurdy Gurdy, and World Series as well..
Put FL-20's in the Hi-LO-Ace, OMG what a difference, the game is ripping fast, but still maintains its controlability..
There is nothing worse than a weak limp playing EM...
IF the orange is too much, i will go to the yellows...
But hurdy gurdy is a bit weak in my opinion.. and it needs to be beefed...
i will know in a few days if it is too ballistic..
I plan on putting "some" pitch to this game as well..
Time will tell.
Quoted from hoov:I usually find if I clean (or replace if necessary) all the flipper parts and adjust both cabinet and EOS switches (or replace) and check the ohms of the 5194 coil I don't need orange or yellow dot coils. You can also high-tap the game if needed.
I tried an orange-dot once on a Drop a Card and it played abnormally fast for me - not the same as on location.
Of course this is just my opinion - if it works for you and you like it fast and furious that's great.
I prefer the speediness in an EM...
I recently played an awesome EM collection, and they were great, and in excellent mechanical condition, but a coule were just a bit lacking in umph...
Time to experiment with the gottlieb coils and see what i like, orange or yellow..
I have Bally's down to a science now
Quoted from hoov:Orange Dot = 10% more power
Yellow Dot = 20% more power
Just got these from Steve.. unless he was confused he told me orange was the stronger of the 2.
I specificly asked for the stronger, and he said orange...
his words yellow medium
orange strong
I will have to check what i bought, maybe i got it wrong, got so much going on right now..
I may be confused. i will report back !
Yellow dot strong, orange medium....
Just opened my PBR care package, and i asked for the strongest coils, hence i got yellows..
Guess that is the answer..
My bad...
I will have pics of Hurdy Gurdy # 2, and pics of a MINT Blue chip i just picked up maybe later tonight, they are still in the truck... Ugghhhhhh !
And some pics of the HG#1, with the PF all done hopefully later as well.
They are all running. Still have a cab swap on Hurdy to do. Blue Chip is in amazing condition. Although she might have to go such SUCKS as I really like it. Cause I have an Ice Show coming an I need the room. My HLA is a blast to play and HG is an amazing game I love it. And the PF is like new and came out beautifully. image-3.jpgimage-87.jpgimage-865.jpg
yeah i know... Blue chip is super snappy though, and just simple plain fun a flipper style player and not so much of a nudger..
rippin the spinners is a blast...
But Ice Show is gonna be a great addition, a total nudger, and a speedy game to boot with the 5 pops.. i am really looking forward to it !
I looked up on IPDB, and it shows 400 IT versions as far as production but no # on the US version of the add-a-ball..
anyone have any idea how many US ones were produced ?
Then there ya go.. that sounds about right to me.
As my Card Trix and flip a card are very close in production as well...
Thanks Dirt !
Quoted from JAG63:Wow Gerry, house looks a lot different since i was there last week, so when do i get to come over and play these EM's, they looks great.
Finishing up the cab swap on Hurdy, cleaning and polishing every piece of metal, and screw by hand on both cabs..my back is killin me, but it will be worth it in the end..that should be up and running in the AM...
The other Hurdy will be getting its first power up tomarow as well..
Gotta do a light shop on the Blue chip buff/wax the PF and that one is good to go.. and will be listed for sale soon, as i gotta make room for the Ice Show !
but probably sunday if ya want later in the afternoon.. LMK
Quoted from Mercury:Collection is great Gerry...I admire your work....Wonder if I could play "em "too?
Pun intended....Paul
Sure, let me get all these turds finished up into shinny gems, and i will have another little get together !
I was recently playing a stellar condition Cowpoke, and man is that a hard game...
everything you said above is ture true true !
Quoted from o-din:More wires than a Ford Taurus.
more wires than 10 ford Taurus's...
That thing scares me
I wish i had the room to keep em all !
there are 4 more pins on my mind i could aquire right now, but i just dont have the room....
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:If there was ever a candidate for add-a-ball this would be it. Shortest ball times ever. But all the roll overs and the skill shot is fun. Today I got all the roll overs and all the specials lit. I got the last special in the middle lit after the ball drained on the far right roll over. My final score was 655. This pin is a pain in the ass to score 1000 on. It is very very challenging.
Thats what makes a great EM great..the challenge...
My Hurdy Gurdy, and Ice Show keep me coming back for more every time...
Never played a NS, but i hope to one of these days..
Congrats on the game....
I dont think i'd like the flipper araingement on that Big Casino...
I likw the spacing in my HG, that seems frustrating enough..
That game is amazing...
I want it, and i want it now !
never even heard of that title, not once...
Off tho IPDB right now
Quoted from cjmiller:It would be more accurate to call Fireball a poor man's Capersville.
I would trade a Fireball for a Capersville any day.
+1.000.000
Quoted from o-din:I have a couple of mine on three ball so that I can never win. Best part is- nobody else can either!
LOL
Quoted from EMsInKC:I played Show Boat a lot back in the day. That flipper arrangement took some getting used to.
Here's a few of mine. A Williams River Boat that I just bought from a friend, a Bally Surfers that was the first game I got way back in 1971, and a Gottlieb Pinball Pool I'm in the middle of restoring. I know, not an EM, but those Sys 1 Gottliebs were almost a hybrid game. Plus, it's basically a remake of Hot Shot with some added features that make it a nice player.
In the corner, you can just see a couple of my others-Williams Ding Dong and Gottlieb Top Card.I sure would like to buy that Surfers if you ever wanna bail on it... LMK Gerry

Quoted from PMcGee:I will work on getting a video for you. It played fairly well off the truck. Dirty bands and playfield, strong pop bumpers and slingshots. Left flippers are so-so. It was in better mechanical shape than most I pick up. The owner took care of it for 30 years.
Looking forward to it thank you
My 2 new EM additions
Got the Jackpot at Allentown, and the Bazzaar off CL,
from a very nice guy that held it a few days till i could get there
The Bazaar need some switch cleaning, and adjustments to play 100%
but she works, and will clean up great !
The JP is dialed right in and is SOOOO much fun, what a great game !
Who has a Pat Hand ?
think i may be able to score one of those local as well..
Watched the satin doll PAPA video and it looks like it could be some fun...
Vids guide to PF restoration is killer by far the best out, and he spent TONS of time in that thread answering everyones questions..
nobody has done a more complete thread on the topic, or helped the community more than Vid !
Quoted from cyroute:Wife really likes the EM's so I picked up these three in the past couple of weeks. All are working 100%. I guess I will need to learn how to fix them if something goes wrong.

I want your Flip Flop
Quoted from TopMoose:I made a video of my Jet Spin. Enjoy!
» YouTube video
good entertaining informative vid ! thank you
Quoted from o-din:Where am I going to put this one? Do I really need two? What's that stuff used to remove paint but leave the original cabinet art called?
i used denatured alcohol, and a towel..
Terry cloth rags
outstanding results but very time consuming..
Quoted from jrpinball:Gerry,
Great to see you're back. I was concerned because of issues we discussed the last time I saw you.
"Bow and Arrow" is a great game. I had one once and kind of regret selling it. It was really nice. I sold it at the Allentown show several years ago.
I know who has it, and he really treasures it. It went to a good home, so that's a good thing.
Will you be coming to Allentown this year?
Hey Jr, thanks for the thoughts...Good to be back !!!
I will be at A town, cooler full of liquor, and a brand new Williams EM addiction
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:Awww Bow N Arrow!!! I am jelly! Such an awesome machine. I will find a nice one some day.
This one will make a nice one. But right now it's not
Quoted from Dee-Bow:What a collection Gerry! & please tell me you take road trips in that big ol' bus!?
Sold the coach but yes I used to drive her around. Ran and drove awesome. She has a new home now. .
Let me put it to you like this
When boilerman does a game, restores a cabinet restencils it, goes and through it the way he does...take a king and diamonds for example, a popular title or even an Abra CA dabra or whatever the case may be, even if he stole that game for two hundred bucks !!!!
(What difference does it make. He deserves to be paid for that time. That time and effort isn't free !!!! )
and restores it...and then went to sell it for what it's worth in restored condition then that's what it's worth...I do agree if if you buy a $500 pin for a thousand bucks and put three or four hundred dollars in parts in it and a ton of hours yeah, you won't get your money back.... but let's be realistic time and effort is worth something.... especially for those that don't have the time to or the knowledge to do it themselves... if you want the title and it's in the condition you want somebody shouldn't have to sell it to you for what they paid for it after doing all the heavy lifting..... I don't care if somebody gets a pin for free, if I want that title and it's I the condition I want and it's worth it then I'll pay for it....and won't think twice...funny how some people are always worried about what somebody paid, and what they're selling it to you for, thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard .... it makes no difference...Just saying !
And by the way all Ship Ahoy's aren't worth 4 or 500 bucks...
I think it a super nice Ship Ahoy can be worth a thousand bucks all day long if you like the game ! And it's spankin nice ...
condition is King
As somebody stated above condition condition condition..... period period period
The days of buying Cherry games for three or four hundred dollars all shopped and done on a routine basis are so over....
And make no mistake it's gonna get worse.....
And while I'm on the computer @RAT_TAGMAGO
WTF. tell us already !!!!!
you're killing me!!!!!
you obviously already paid for it so I don't see why it wouldn't be coming to your house...they can't steal your money. Unless you mailed them an envelope full of CASH !!!!
tell us already... tell us already....tell us already !!!!!
Quoted from Spg101:Ok, guy came back to me and price isn't Negotiable. He knows what it's worth, and I'm moving on.. thanks you
BTW My rant wasn't meant for anyone in particular.
Just an EM Rant.
Rat... tell us already...
or your gonna make me fly down there and paddle your bottom...
and im serious !!!
Yes Brian i will sorry its kinda blocked in the corner ATM with a ton of shit on it and under it, when i can get a few minutes to re arrainge i will get that for you... adn i will try to do it as soon as i can, been very busy lately.
BTW i like pro football, i played a very well shopped out one in A town a few years back and i had a real good time with it
Quoted from Mopar:That is a beautiful looking machine. One that I had never played.
Thank you for posting. Now tonight I should be able to get a good
nights rest for the first time in 29 days..
Hey T, me too
My williams EXPO has the same thing going on...
i LIKE brutaly hard games but i think the post is fine
I'm glad its there on EXPO
Quoted from NicoVolta:Orin had one... it hooked me. Fun game & nice score!
Me too...
I put some time in on it last night, i didn't quite figure out the rule set at my friends house where i got it from...
But i understand it now.. VERY challenging !
Every time you plunge it is a different skill shot, 6 choices, pretty cool...
certain number combos award extra ball, or open gates etc, along with lighting the captive hole or gate for high point awards...
still need to figure out what combo's do certain things
And shooting the gate is very difficult when its lit, one second its lit, and the next its not and its too late... if you hit the mushroom bumpers..
for sure a one more game type of thing going one here
PF looks good brian ! Nice job !
Yes Nick. the shots are there and then there gone that fast.. tough game, but fun game...
Quoted from gdonovan:Love the backglass, hilarious! I'm tempted to buy the one in NY that is for sale just on that alone.
Which one in NY ?
Quoted from Gerry:Who is making those films for the BG's
I need Bally See Saw done.....
anyone ?
Let the clean up begin....
Got this from Skip in the flea market. Untested.
Skip is a great guy. I bought it on Sunday even though I saw it on Thurs. Or maybe it was Friday. Anyway Sunday afternoon after selling a crap ton of parts I went back over to see if it was there and it was and I looked at it and walked away, then I came back and looked at it again and walked away, then I came back and Skip and I made a deal I was able to pay what I wanted....I looked at all over opened it all up everything was connected and clean inside with no hacking... even though some moron painted the entire cabinet with like the worst paint ever!!!! anyway got it home fired it up every single switch almost every light bulb as well works ...the game plays a hundred percent.... amazing to me and it's been in the back of the SUV since Allentown bouncing around over the last 1000 miles. LOL
Needless to say I am very happy.

Thanks. It really is super nice.. Typical little dots of missing white from the score reel body's touching the glass. But I'd say it's a solid 9. I've seen this title with wiped out glass a few times. That seems to be the norm on DC....
I think I'm gonna love this game. The ruleset seems awesome.
Quoted from Electrocute:The backglass on that Dodge City looks really nice. Usually the animated cowboy cuts into the blonde girl's hair. Very good pickup. Took me awhile to find a decent example.
This has been on my wish list for.like the last 5 yrs. Wish the cab wasn't FFFFFF'd with. But time to learn how to do good stencils.
Quoted from NicoVolta:Got to play that for the first time at Allentown. Fun! I think I want one now.
You should play it now, that i have had some time to spend with it...
It was all brown and yucky when it showed up in A Town from NC, hadn't been serviced in years...
NOW its getting the Gerry treatment...
It plays totaly different now from A Town, and is just a whole new experience... that i think you'd like even more
Quoted from Mopar:Gerry, I'm looking forward to playing this one when the next little festival is at your place..
Busy next couple of months, but with a little heads up, I'll make room.. (T)
Can't wait T....I will give ya a good heads up !!!!
Couldn't get all the ball swirls out of it got about 90% of them out maybe 95 Playfield cleaned up great cleaned buffed waxed all the metal Soap Queen getting ready to put it back together now killing it tonight just think should be rocking in the morning

GS is a good game. Set it to AAB it's even more fun...
Light all 4 corners for 3 extra balls try to get 3 in a row. And then try to spell special. Lots to do and properly tweaked and high tapped it can be very very fast. Enjoy. Looks like it's gonna turn out great !
Game I pulled the trigger. Got a real.good.deal.and it was more than I expected. I highly recommend it if you run across another
