Thanks Rat. I forgot that I've actually played a lot of that game. So fun. Thanks for posting the video.

Moved to Nunavut? They will have to change the population sign (last census, 31906). You might need to buy a Snowmobile Suit. I hear that Iqalut is quite beautiful in the summer.

It's going to need a little more of his special touch, but it's playing through a game now, and looks (and smells!) worlds better than it did nine days ago.
Wowzers!

Some hot Inuit women here. They are so covered up though. Getting internet here is a bitch!
Quoted from boilerman:Jr. Vic doesn't have a lot of elbow room in his shop! looks like he is getting tight on space.
I keep telling him he needs to dig another basement. He could easily do it where he is, but alas- he's thinking about retiring to Florida in a few years! Get up there now while you still can!

I talked to guy in dover, I was second in line because I could not pull the trigger the first time I talked to him.
It looks good glad it went to a pinsider not a flipper
Just took some photos of a "Square Head" I got a while back and just set up. It's playing as is, but will need some love. Could use a better backglass. Oddly, there are no lamps in the name section. Not on this one, I mean. I'll have to install some bulbs and see how bad the backglass really is.

Nice, JR. Are Square Head and Egg Head basically the same game? There's a guy not too far from me who's been offering an Egg Head for about $1k. Looks like a really nice game but wasn't sure. What's your opinion on it?
Layout looks more forgiving on Square Head w/gobble holes instead of HUGE drains.
Both have cute artwork but I bet Square Head is the better player.
They're loosely related, but "Egg Head" has the earlier shallower cabinet and side drains. "Square Head" has the mid-depth cabinet which was used until "Spirit of '76", and has two somewhat large gobble hole drains, plus the center drain. It's a decent player, but not much strategy really. Whether you complete "X's and O's" is pretty much up to chance. "Square Head" resets after every ball. That big trip bank under the playfield must get a real workout!

It would have to be an exceptionally nice example for $1000. Even at that, I don't really care for the "replay version".

I like the playfield art on "Egg Head", and the red pop bumper caps with the blue skirts is very attractive too, but don't really care for the backglass art. "Square Head" has a great backglass; very cartoony and detailed. Classic Roy Parker. The playfield and cabinet graphics are very attractive as well. Could be a better looker than a player, but not a bad player by any means. "Egg Head" is a very difficult game to beat.
Just noticed on ipdb that "Egg Head" is a year and a half older than "Square Head". That obviously explains the difference in the cabinet styles. I didn't realize there was that much time between the two. Same with "King Pin" and "Pin-Up". Quite a space between those two as well.
I would hope Square Head is more fun to play, because Egg Head was ridiculously punishing with those huge side drains and rebounds everywhere. It's hard enough to luck out with a tic-tac-toe on the way down... forget getting the ball back up to the top row.
Both games would benefit from some kind of skill shot which would bagatelle the ball back to the top again. Once the ball is down in the lower area it stays there... and not for long.
I think both games are more about the art than the gameplay, but if I had to choose one it would be Square Head.
Many don't know this, but the term "Square Head" is an ethnic slur against Scandinavian people. If you look at the artwork on the game, you'll see some details that are a little disparaging to the characters depicted. For example, the small child at the top of the playfield, as well as the young boy playing marbles on the backglass have full flowing mustaches. So put this game in the list of those that are a bit "politically incorrect".

Yeah, I'd definitely say "Square Head" is the better game. If the flippers are working correctly though, it isn't really difficult to get the ball back to the top of the playfield. My biggest gripe is that the whole idea of getting the side lanes and gobble holes lit for an extra ball is totally random and involves very little player strategy or shotmaking.

Joe here are a few more pic's as the restoration is moving along better than expected.I installed the striker or clapper for the 0-9 unit one point bell tonight along with cleaning and adjusting the alternating relay which was causing a problem. Also i clipped a few turns off the spring on the the subway doors to get a good snap to open and close them. Cleaned and gapped the pops and flipper switches and cleaned the center target two stepping units. Played a few games to check my work and to hear all the three bells ringing together for the first time in about 30 years.

Sweet example.
My SJ now playing through after reintegrating a disintegrated latch relay last week....still on Hi Tap due to sad n nasty flippers but everything works now ....what a great game. New plastics ordered but it's really poor cosmetically and I'm wondering whether it's worth the effort
Tape off the clear areas (reel windows, etc), triple thick, and then touch up the flaky areas with frost gloss paint. Red areas should be easy since they are uniform color. Works well.

I'm not sure, but I think the glass has already been sealed. Gotta check again. Anyone out there have a better used original glass?

If original that is the nicest Gulfstream I've seen since back in the day.
Well done.

I think that Gulfstream was even nicer then mine that was at TPF 2015, and mine was pretty nice IMO.

It was my first try with using the film you clued me in on, boilerman. I could have picked an easier one for the first use of the film. Those constant curves of the pins are just a real dog to do. Impossible to free hand and make them look good.
Our friend Lee suggested that I use French curves and that worked a lot better, but you still have to move the curves around a lot to get the bends correct, or close to correct. I'm pretty happy with it, it's running, just one adjustment needed to get it 100 percent.
Now on to DAC. I'm sure the stencils will be better for that game, seeing as how they were made by an expert instead of by me...
That's a bgresto glass, btw. I'm pretty happy with it. The score reels bulbs show through a bit but other than that, it's pretty darned good. Much better than the trashed glass that was in the game, and that glass will never be screened, I'm sure.

Looks very nice. It is such a cool looking BG that I'll bet it is nice to have such a nice one to look at.

Steve Azzam did a nice job with it. The game is just different from a lot of EM games with the blue base instead of the off white. Pretty nice artwork on it. Fun game to play, there is good strategy to it.
I don't know that it's a forever keeper, but I'll keep it around quite awhile I think.
Picked up this Aztec last weekend. Doing full restoration. My first perfect 10 back glass. The playfield is in great shape also. No sunken inserts and no wear around inserts. Pretty amazing considering the 60K plays on the counter. Should be ready in 40 days.
