I still haven't mastered that after so many years. I have great admiration for those who have good nudging instincts.

This turned up today...Not too bad, a bit of planking, insert wear, grubby. B/g a little faded around the 10 of diamonds otherwise unmarked

31000 plays

Last coat of paint is up except 1/2 of the ceiling.
Then working ones (8) on one side, dead ones (2) on the other.

First time I've found one of these. It was screwed into the top of the backbox keeping the glass snug

Nice Hit the Deck. 31,000 plays is low.

Another title I'm after.

I can remember seeing these in the arcades. Man did they stand out. Green/Teal all over, and those faux digital score reels. Great find.

I picked up my Gottlieb Atlantis from the Port today after its long journey from Boston MA. Actually the shipping on this one was slow taking four months because of very slow crating & a roundabout Journey from the US East Coast through Singapore to Australia.
Anyhow very happy with the machine (45712 plays) which played well straight out of the crate. It has a great playfield & backglass but I will need to do some work on the cabinet including the bottom board, fit a tilt mech, resurrect the coin mechs & service the motor board, head & playfield.
I extend my thanks to Dirt Flipper for his highly professional & informative pre purchase assessment.

Looks great Wayne! Congrats on owning a great game!

Just finished a major Shopout of my Atlantis adding some new parts here and there so I figured I would share as well. Working 100% now and just need some Cabinet paint touchups. Just waiting on some New Flipper EOS Switches to cut some of the buzz as I replaced the Coils with Orange Dots and the linkage/stops/bats/shafts, and it's basically done until I get a new Playfield in 1-2 years.

Looks terrific Ken incl the pf! Sure you need a repro? I am also an orange dot disciple & will put them on mine when I go over it.

Congrats Wayne! I wish I had an original playfield like yours.

Your neighbors must think you're in the pinball business as of late bringing home all these crated wonders!

Thanks Wayne. I would say my Playfield is a 7 tops as it has some ink loss and minor Planking you really can't see in the photo. My backglass is an original and a 9.5 so I would like a Playfield that matches that.

Wayner and Ken - both your games need double rings behind the drop targets (double stacked on top of the other). (In the Operator Manual, it's ring 'F' on the ring chart, part A-10226.)

#3721 4 years ago

An OXO that my son and I are in the process of fixing together. He has asked to help with other projects but I was always knee deep in fixing something so there wasn't a lot he could do. This time we are starting from the beginning and he'll be involved in every step. I think he'll really like seeing it come back to life.

this brings up a question i've wondered about... should drop target banks be double ringed as general rule of thumb? or just specific games?

No, not all banks are double-ringed (at least not per the factory ring charts). Ones with a longer span seem to be though.

gotcha... i have my jacks open single ringed, that seemed to be what the chart implied...

think i should double it?

That would have been awesome if I had an EM in the house growing up much less my dad helping me get it going! Have fun working on it together and playing it.

No, Jacks Open is single rings. They added those wire forms behind the drop targets, so no need (i.e., the ball can't get behind the rings).

Mine is doubled. I've seen too many Jacks Open/Lucky Hand broken drop target plastics to not double ring it.

I go by experience also. Where the drop targets are a square shot from the flippers, like the upper drop targets on Countdown, they get double rings. Where they are glancing shots, like the lower drop targets on Countdown, they can survive with single rings.

Other examples where double rings are indicated, as witnessed by the number of broken plastics at these locations, is the drop targets on Sky Jump and Big Brave/Indian.

I go conservative and double ring most of my Gottlieb drop target banks. Keep in mind I'm also running 99% exclusively original drop targets also.

Thks Dave. My garage faces the street so when I am working on a machine it is obvious to anyone walking past. There is a lady who cannot comprehend that I have more than one machine. So she invariably calls out "You still working on that machine!"

lol

Tell her you dropped a screw or a tool in the bottom of it somewhere a few months ago and you can't find it! Then find out who else she told when someone different asks you if you found it.

At least she knows it is a machine, and not a doll house..

Interesting info re: double ringing....Volley drops being straight on and close in- I've already got a broken one...will also do Sky Jump.

Congrats on your Atlantis arriving Wayne....beautiful low mileage example.

Looks like EM pinball is alive and well in Australia with Wayner and greenechidna posting frequently. I'm South from these guys and love the 'out there' titles such as Bally Capersville from 1966. This game doesn't look like much to play but she is a blast and gets a heap of use. The game was imported into Australia 3 years ago. The pop bumper caps, or the #455s in the bumper aren't original but the rest was restored to factory. The video is the game in action.

Is that the Capersville that was at Pinfest 2012? Great player with zipper flipers and multiball. Really good art too

no that was marco's..this is another one

damn, that's the best looking C-ville I've seen-the rest have been pretty well worn.
this pin was ahead of it's time and has one of the deepest rule sets of any EM.

yes, the game looks like there is nothing going on..there was a container of em's that got imported from europe into australia about 3 years ago..got to see the list of what was coming in an made capersville my number 1 to buy..this version is the one made for germany, so it made it a bit tricky when going over the game as all the labels etc are also in german.

i think the gameplay behind the kickout saucers and the Deep 4 Exit feature is really cool in that there's 2 ways to get multiball and how the saucers will hold 1 or both of the balls if there's not one in the Deep 4 exit alley but automatically kick them out if there is a ball in the alley. also cool is that the captive balls hold over from player to player and game to game.
I'm in the middle of restoring one now and I also have a German version machine sitting idle at the moment.
Lemme know if you need the German labels translated.

3/12/2015:

The Arcade has been upgraded and updated from 4 to 5 Pins. No more CC Casino which freed up space for a 1975 Gottlieb Atlantis and a 1975 Williams Triple Strike. The arrangement will change once again after TPF 2015 with 2 new titles, a 1972 Gottlieb Flying Carpet and a 1974 Gottlieb Sky Jump. Both of the Williams Pins already have a new owner after TPF.

Enjoy!
