Hi greenechidna, welcome to Pinside. I'm an Aussie myself, originally from Perth. You have a nice collection of EM's there. Well done. I used to have a few EM's back in the early 90's when I was in Perth. I had a High Hand, and came close to buying a Hit The Deck. I often wonder who has my old pins nowadays. Hope you enjoy Pinside, cause I do. Cheers, Mal

Quoted from greenechidna:

G'day from Australia. Just discovered Pinside and this amazing thread.

Welcome aboard the SS Pinside greenechidna

wayner is another pinsider (very talented guy and nice to boot) in AU who was selling his Pro Football. He's north of Sydney.

#3603 9 years ago

Is that the one currently on Ebay?...looks clean and a reasonable price....me, I'm all out of $$$ but Pro Football is on the list

I just searched ebay au and didn't see it. All I saw was a couple flyers and a rubber ring kit.
If you have any interest at all just send wayner a pm - hover over his avatar and click on pm. I'm not even sure if he still has it for sale.

Greenchidna...welcome to pinside and welcome to the EM forums. I am glad you enjoy this thread and you have great taste in music since you know exactly where I got my name from. "Sheik Yerbouti" is one of my favorite Zappa albums. Thanks for bumping one of my favorite threads. Next week I should have two recently acquired EMs to share in this thread.

Welcome. What is a green echidna? Is it like "a little green rosetta"?

#3610 9 years ago

That's an echidna.

Green Echidna was a proposed name for a business selling spikey coastal plants we were setting up a while back

We get echidnas in our garden and they are amazing. One of two egg laying mammals (monotremes) and appears on the Australian 5 cent coin.

No FZ reference here but I will offer up Yo Mama as the top track on SY and favorite album being Hot Rats.

echidna.jpgechidna.jpg
#3611 9 years ago

My favorite track from Shiek Yerbouti would be "Broken Hearts are For @$%^holes"
My favorite FZ song would have to be a toss up between "Florentine Pogen" and "Corolina Hardcore Extacy"
I will pick two FZ albums as my favorite. "Roxy and Elsewhere" and "Hot Rats"
Best FZ instrumental for me would be "Rat Tomago" followed by "Peaches in Regalia"

#3612 9 years ago

“Interviewer: 'So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?'
Frank Zappa: 'You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?”

Dude actually did have a wooden leg and was a huge d*ckhead.

"Sofa" instrumental, "I'm the Slime", "Willie The Pimp" "Dog Breath" etc

We appear to have been separated at birth.....

I think Dweezil and Vai have done a nice job keeping the show on the road though we have lost a true genius and uncommonly decent man who cannot be truely replaced

Ever see any wombats? Cute 'lil burrowers.

#3614 9 years ago

Yeah, incredibly cute till you hit one in the middle of the night and demolish your steering /suspension.
Those things are built like tree stumps.

Never ever drive fast at night in the country here....They're just cueing up to destroy you.

#3615 9 years ago

I didn't know they got THIS big...

wombat.jpgwombat.jpg

#3616 9 years ago

That wombat would weigh 80-100 kilo as it's all muscle.

better show a pic....excuse the mess

Before picking that Wombat up, I would suggest to feed it first. Or it might start to chew on your arm.

#3618 9 years ago

I suspect that's been shopped as that is abnormally huge and would weigh too much for one man. I'll stand corrected if there's other pics. Marsupials are vegetarians thank god but wombats have 2 huge front teeth like chisels that'l take off a finger as well as long tough claws

Here's the Zacc Universe...I'm having a clean & wax day tomorrow so I'll get a few more clearer pics

Looks great to me. Now, do you convert the electrical in each machine, or have an external converter?

#3620 9 years ago

All 240v, assumed they are all Aust delivered except Big Casino which the previous owner converted from 110v

#3621 9 years ago
Quoted from hoov:

PM sent to greenechidna hoov-thks

#3622 9 years ago

I think most imported pins came through Leisure and Allied and were then converted to 240. I actually worked at Leisure and Allied in Perth back in '93 for a short time. Not on pins though. Pretty big place. I think Leisure and Allied had a Sydney warehouse as well.
All the pins I ever had already had a 240v transformer in them. Never seen a 110v one in Aus.
ps. I've never seen a green echidna, only a few brown ones and a hairy one in Tazzie.

#3623 9 years ago

If that Wombat we're loose in your gameroom he could chew through some serious cabling!

#3624 9 years ago

Also wanting to know if Kangaroos hop into game rooms with their garage doors open. Any Kangaroo pics appreciated.........

#3625 9 years ago

Nice collection down yonder, greenechidna!

(I'd buy a Gottlieb wedgehead "Wombat" game if y'all had made one in the 60s/70s...)

#3626 9 years ago

I am calling this one "The ghosts of Freedom". After the triple thick and a nice dose of bright LEDS it looks great and makes these guys look ghostly and historical where the flaking occurred.

I also enjoy the randomness of the game play on this title.

That is 1 sharp looking pin there Dan.

#3631 9 years ago

Looks great. Really like the gameplay of Central Park. It tests your patience when the ball is on either side of the flippers.

Looks great Dan! Now all you have to do is set that Tilt Bob.

#3633 9 years ago

Are we going to get to play your Central Park at TPF this month, Dan?

Quoted from MikeO:

Yes Mike, but it will be set up in the tournament area along with another pin I am bringing and will be showing off in pictures later this week. Hopefully you can sneak in a game or two on it.

#3635 9 years ago

Following a much appreciated reference by illawarra92 I picked up today a Gottlieb Spin Out (I am a revhead from wayback) from Michael Shalhoub who had purchased this machine from a dealer in Chicago about 10 years ago.
The machine is fully operational although I will probably return the transformer from high to normal connectivity. Interestingly two US 110V transformers are installed in series. Does this mean 2x110=220V?
The machine requires quite a deal of cosmetic attention cabinet touch-up; pedestal repaint; replace bottom board; clean & wax playfield; install playmeter, tilt, coin mechanisms & cash box; seal & touch-up backglass; refinish coin door & coin entry plate.

Congrats on the new machine Wayner. Looks like fun.

It's funny I ran into Michael Shalhoub at the Chicagoland show quite a few years ago. Being a huge fan of his books I had to go up and say hi. He was very pleasant and it was fun to meet him. I wonder if he picked up your Spin Out during that trip.

#3637 9 years ago

Congrats on your pick up wayner. It should scrub up nicely. I'm an old revhead too, lol. Was even the computer guy on a nitro funny for a while

#3638 9 years ago

Nice pick up!

So, how many games does Michael own now?!

#3639 9 years ago

Heres my Hot shot. My only EM at the moment but there will be more! Oh yes there will be more!!!

not easy getting a topper on an EM to look great

Not sure precisely AlexF because he visited the US on so many occasions. It was quite fascinating and rewarding to speak to someone with such a wealth of knowledge & experience of the Industry and EM pins in particular. I was honoured to have the opportunity to return with Michael, along with illawarra92 & Rod (of Rods' pinball videos fame) to his Mums' place for a coffee & chat.

It is indeed a small world Hyperball91. I ran what was then called a gas dragster (slingshot) with a fuel injected small block chevy power plant.

He mentioned 500 Shapeshifter.

It does play, but will need a little going over. For one, I'm going to remove the metal flippers and install the proper ones. I also have a better backglass that I'm going to install in it. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to the Ohio show and if so, I may bring her along. Could be for sale.
