Quoted from boilerman:

thanks Vic, I have been pretty busy at work and I am surprised I got done as much as I have. I normally keep everything I pick up at least for a little while. one Abra is mine and the other belongs to Chippewa-Pin. I still have to go through the mechanicals but that is the time consuming part
once done I have a few bugs in the egg head I just finished then the new Goden arrow is getting a good cleaning. really what to put a 30-40 games on it to see if everyone that said JR's at Allentown was great was telling me the truth....the main reason I picked it up

I am the proud owner. Thanks for getting to it so quickly! I'm just praying for some good weather to travel over the PA turnpike to come get it when it's all done!

putting these two back together, they came out pretty nice. both played with very little tweaking.
just have to fine tune them.

Good Lord Boilerman! You must be getting the big bucks for this kind of work.

Sooo clean!

That is one way to play head to head. Am I the only one who noticed the scores of '1975'?

Any 'before' pics?

My new baby. Backglass preservation / repair is kind of growing on me (I think it's kind of neat), playfield is near perfect. Paid $300. Cabinet art is pretty good as well, 7/10 or 8/10 on that I'd say.

Picked up this rolldown flipper less machine. You actually roll the ball down the playfield glass to the playfield. I thought I was crazy to buy it but it's actually very addictive. image-252.jpgimage-688.jpgimage-127.jpgimage.jpg

From a $167 purchase last January to a fine looking Pin. I'm just about finished with the restore of this Target Pool.

Nice looking Target Pool! I'm doing the same to a Sweet Hearts and a Bowling Queen. They are getting the works. Will post photos soon.

Any of you fine gents know where a guy could find a good 70s wedgehead within a few hours of Columbus, OH?

A local guy wants my Flying Carpet, and I'm thinking I want to fill that hole with a better player - Abra Ca Dabra, Atlantis, El Dorado, and Centigrade 37 are at the top of my list, but I'm open to most anything.

You're slipping Dirt. $2K for an ED COG doesn't hold much interest in any market.

Second game on the list is an EM El Dorado for $1400. Not very much flexibility on price, and it's a 7 hour round trip.

I am mulling it over, though. Would appreciate any input.

My mistake. My apologies to Dirt.

Mike O.

If the pictures are decent I'd look at it for that price if I was looking for one.

Not a bad deal. Not a great deal but not a bad deal either. I go on 7 hr. round trips all the time for pins and now gas prices are down which means you may save another $50+ there. Anytime you don't have to ship a pin you're ahead of the game.

Of the three titles you mentioned Abra Ca Dabra seems to be the best buy and not in quite as much demand as the others..... They're all tough pins to find.

From the pics, the El D. looked pretty nice. Given your short list of games of interest, it may be challenging to find one that's closer/cheaper/nicer (choose any two). Healthy demand for those titles still. It just depends on how patient you want to be.

This one is priced reasonably for the condition/title, if one is looking for a game that's "done". Whether it's truly "done" is hard to tell from the pics. Seems like it's very difficult to find even a project El Dorado for much less than $800-$1000 these days, so there's not a huge relative difference.

That's alot of awsome machines guys.
I'm on a quest to get my first EM but i can already see that its going to be
a hard quest to complete. Every time i find what i'm looking for its to far to
drive or some one beats me to it.

You might contact local folks who can help you find a game and go to shows local to you. And, watch Craigslist, Mr. Pinball Classifieds, ebay, etc. closely, so you get a chance to get one of those em's. I think a 1 - 4 hour one-way trip to get a game is worth it for the right title - and in very good condition.

#3472 4 years ago

Patience needed in buckets to pick up nice em's - worth it though.

Thanks! I think I just needed someone to sell me on the idea of driving 8 hours total and spending over a grand for an EM.

I've got a deal worked out for El Dorado, and should be picking it up later this week.

Please give me some info about how Universe plays. I love the look of her. Just like to know how she handles.

Also, I see you have a Sunshine. I got one in the garage waiting to be fixed. What do you think of that game as well?

that spin out is a repaint correct? normal yellow black vs your red black

>Please give me some info about how Universe plays. I love the look of her. Just like to know how she handles.
Also, I see you have a Sunshine. I got one in the garage waiting to be fixed. What do you think of that game as well?

Well as far as universe. When I first played it I played it I played it without any rules set involved and I was like meh. It was good but was afraid it wasn't going to hold my attention long. once I learned the rules: obtaining 1-8, gobble hole bonus, and gaining "trips" around the world it became a lot of fun. What's really like how the top rollovers are fanned across spaced with the flippers. Since it's not straight across it hard to get some of the rollovers even with nudging. It's hard to get the middle rollovers even with a skil shot. Then since the fan of rollovers at the bottom of the game is going in the opposite direction the ball falls towards the middle and not the sides like the top. The knocker goes wild on this game. Also I like how the ball is basically constantly moving. There is a lot of room on the playfield which I like. I'm not into stuffy games wih big roto targets in the middle to slow things down. On top of it all the art is kicks ass! It's def going to stay in my collection. It def has my attention.

Sunshine....... Well. He concept is awesome. I really like the interaction between the playfield and backglass. I like how the gobble holes sync up w the roto and the top rollovers. The playfield layout is pretty lame. It just doesn't flow the way I would like it. I just don't get the feeling of excitement from the flow of the ball like universe does. Like I said the concept is cool but gameplay is average.

But your talking to a guy who sold his buckaroo but kept his Central Park out of the two. I'm also not a fan of sing along. So really who am I.

Yes. And not a good repaint at that. It was like that when I got it. It plays great and has low play count and is in decent condition image.jpg

I like the red/black combo better than the yellow/black

doesn't look to bad from what I see, I have seen some really bad repaints over the years

The colors go well with the machine. It's just rough around the edges. Looks like free handed brush. It would be really easy to fix though

I had a friend hook me up with a Gottlieb Merry Go Round today. It is pretty rough, but it actually does work and play. Needs some TLC and a new backglass but it was free so I can't complain Pretty low run game. Kinda cool.
