I figured I would bump this thread to keep it active. Hopefully you guys will check out this forum as well and review some of your favorite EMs.

Only remaining example? It looks like a fun (and hard) game. What can you tell us about this deck?

Made by Automatics in Spain, production run of 24 which was bought by London coin 1967, all sold to an operator but they didn't do well on site and he disposed of 23 (smashed up and dumped). The remaining one he kept and it was in his house for years. Bought by a friend of mine but it sat with melted lamp inserts. I made new ones and convinced him to sell it to me.
All Gottlieb mechanics underneath but Telleres de Llobregat (Automatics) coil wrappers and stickers. 3/4 size machine, exterior is formica covered.
Playwise, fairly simple but has a great feature of rubbers behind the flippers so you can lazarus the ball back into play!

Was at the London IFPA world championships and EPC the same year. It's on IPDB (but not on pinside database).

El Dorado is a nice player, takes a while to figure out the upper right target but once dialed in it gets addictive.

Very nice work!

Is that a Wade Krause play field? (I did a restore last year like that, looks familiar)

Yes, it's a Wade PF, Shay backglass, PBR plastics set & drop targets, all new posts, pops, flippers, new coin door, etc... cabinet restored to original. Came out very nice, on it's way to Australia

#266 6 years ago

Where are the shots of pyramid or Cleopatra?

#267 6 years ago

Here's another shot of El Dorado and World Fair along with one of the two Spin Wheel's I restored.

I've got a regular Joker Poker but would love an EM.
Very, very nice!

OK, one more.

So, is it all you had hoped it would be? Worth the wait?

Play about 50 games for me would ya?

#271 6 years ago

Wow John all your pins look fabulous! Those cabinets are so clean. Are they all original or quality refinished? They're wonderful either way!

And then some!

It has it's own special spot. Now the TV room has been invaded. Who watches TV anyway?

Man that thing is beautiful! Who do I have to have sex with to get a EM Joker Poker like that?! Jeesh! That thing looks like it was taken out of the box and forgotten about for 34-35 years. Did anyone ever play the damn thing? Man I am so jealous! Congratulations!

I would have sold a kidney to have an El Dorado that looks like that!

#276 6 years ago

o-din,

No wonder you were so excited to get that. That would be a holy grail pin to me.

They would have to pry the flipper buttons from my cold lifeless hands before I would part with that machine.

Nice games John.

Was that hard selling that El Dorado?

And it goes ding-dong, too!

Selling games to overseas buyers is a double edged sword. You always make good coin, but you realize all the work that went in to them and know it will be very unlikely you'll see one so nice ever again. At least you know it will have a good home, since the buyer is willing to shell out the cash. WE are really lucky to have this many nice games here in the states. I feel sorry for pinheads in other countries, well just a little anyway!

Quoted from SteveFury:

Cabs were all repainted by yours truly, Matched all finishes to factory as best I could.

Quoted from hoov:

Nice games John.
Was that hard selling that El Dorado?

After a heartbreak of ruining a decent original playfield trying my hand at clearcoating, I waited for Wade Kraus to finish his repop playfield for it for a couple years. By then I decided to go the whole nine yards and replaced everything. I spent way more on this title than I intended to. An opportunity came along that allowed me to recoup my expenses so I turned it into 1/2 a Hobbit. I actually prefer short flippers when it comes to EMs so it was not that hard to sell it. I learned a lot working on it so I'll always have that.

#282 6 years ago

that is one nice el dorado, looks great! I only WISH !

the em joker poker is nice but IMO the SS plays much better and I'm a EM guy

Now you tell me. Actually this one plays real fast. Is there a rule difference?

#284 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Is there a rule difference?

OK. I just watched a u-tube vid of the SS version. On that one you get 5X bonus instead of double bonus. But on my EM version, I get to see and hear the score reels function. That is a trade-off I will take anyday.

Looks like a fun game, very cool artwork, and wonderful Backbox animation.

Come on, you know you can do it John.........finish that Flipper Clown

Nice 2001. I bought new bulls-eye targets to put on mine. I went to do it one day and then saw how the targets are soldered into place with all those bare wires. I realized it was more than the simple 20 minute job I was hoping for, so I put it off. I need to dig back in there and finish it after seeing how nice yours look.

#298 6 years ago

Great thread, just need to get some free time to start on the restores again.

John, this is a machine I don't get to see very often. I am loving the restore. It looks fabulous!

Again, congrats on acquiring your 'Grail' pin. I can only imagine how excited you are! I'm excited to get my grail pin, too, but your excitement level just might trump mine.
