I think you even get to pass a couple of Buccees on the way. And if you take 290, you can swang by the Lone Star Pinball Museum in beautiful downtown Hockley and say hey.

At this point Jeff we better grab Jason too! Shaping up to be a real fun time!

Finished my latest project- Williams 1967 Blast Off
Here's a few eye candy shots. Pretty sweet machine picked up locally and swapped the cabinet with my Apollo for a collector quality game all around. Ron Webb repro glass. Did my usual stuff including re-graining the door skin (Chris, same year as your Magic City), a few new coils, everything torn down, cleaned/serviced, etc. Love this theme/artwork and for the year, quite a bit going on with the orbit shots and values advance each time you 'launch' the rocket! (Bagatelle was also completely torn down and restored) Labor of love for sure! Edit to add-still looking for score cards. Have a few feelers out for other owners, but haven't gotten any bites yet.

That is one schweeet "Blast Off" ! I like your keyless front door lock. Where's the coin return flap though?
Are the red metal flippers correct for that game? I recall others I have played had regular white plastic ones. Nice touch though even so.

Ha-ha, I knew someone would catch me on the return flap! I looked at the one on my Apollo door (this game didn't have one) and it was kind of rusted so didn't switch it out. Now that Chris has set the bar so high, I may have to go retrieve it and polish it up!
As for the flippers, yes, they came from PBR (Steve's got a small stash of used ones) They weren't cheap either! The game came with aftermarket reds plastic ones that weren't as nice IMO. I like the classic metal ones, and they might even have a bit more momentum with the added weight. I got a few of those keyless catches a couple years ago for answering a quiz on Pinball Podcast! When I keep a game, I sometimes use them if I know I'll be inside the game (early on for ironing out the bugs) Thanks for the props JR.

Oh I have been!
Lots of testing to make sure everything is working properly!
High score to date: 17,348 (though sometimes can't even earn one extra ball!)
I have the score tiers set at 3,4, and 5 thousand, which I have seen on at least one other game with factory card.

Great photo shots ! What camera did you use ?
John
Just a cheap Olympus point and shoot, John. I take some with flash, then without and steady the camera on the something. The later seems to work well as the colors seem more natural to me. The flash always burns out some areas with too much light as well. I wish I could take better video with this camera. It needs lots of light (works well outside).
Quoted from heatwave:Here are some close-ups of the playfield showing the black numbers on the inserts and black numbers on the 10-J-Q-K-A light shields.
Also noted a spot in the playfield that is 'pricked' for a playfield post but never had one placed in it (you can see it next to the 'Spin Roto' lettering). On all the other games on IPDB, there is a post there. Interesting that it is NOT shown in the original game flyer. Wondering if during the sample game testing the operators observed that they should set the game up with the extra playfield post in that position.
Finally, here is a close up of the score reels. The font used for the nubmers does look slightly different from the ones shown on the IPDB

Update re KOD sample.
This example is interesting as it suggests sample games had a yellow pop bumper as well. This game has been untouched for years! Not mine.

It's what you call a "rictus" (look it up).
Just picked up a Sing Along! I'm really out of room, but I have always liked how this game plays and its back glass is among my all-time favorites.
Pretty darn dirty but it worked and as soon as I add 20+ new coil sleeves, new rubbers and a good ME + Novus2 + Wax it should turn out very nice. The game is missing a credit wheel so I am in the market for one from a similar era Gottlieb single player. Willing to buy the whole unit if the price is right (haven't gone through it enough to see if other parts of the unit are missing).
I'll post some more pics of the cleanup and final product. Very excited!
that pf looks like it has almost no kick out hole wear, bg has a few issues but good looking overall
great game one of my top 5 2"ers
what state did you find it? because they have been popping up in the last 6 months

Another nice Sing Along. Great playfield. Nice grab.....
Two excellent pins. Unfortunately you will have to order those plastics from Australia. The repros are excellent quality.
I picked it up in Evansville, IN. Very nice guy, said it belonged to a friend of his who had it at his house since the late 70's. He bought it from the guys parents estate sale and moved it (legs, back box and all) to his house.
I don't think the game had been opened up in years, but in this case I think it might have helped out:
- Literally every bulb but one behind the back glass was burned out. There is that slight wear in the white area by the score reels, but the rest of the glass is perfect.
- The kickout holes were so weak (I'm sure due to dirty coil sleeves, switches, etc) that the ball barely made it out the holes and kind of just plopped onto the playfield (= no pounding effect)
- There was a thick layer of carbon/dust/dirt covering the playfield that may have helped protect it. Luckily, the ball was in good shape so no issues there.
I'm excited to dig in and make it shine!
Quoted from frg:And a nice Abra Ca Dabra...
The plastics got some protectors, seemed to be a good idea to use colored plastics. But it is too much - I have to redo this.
By the way... does anayone have the small plastics at the bottom?

boilerman - Of my current lineup, Heat Wave is the game I've had the longest. It does have great artwork. In my opinion one of the best William's single-players.

Thanks Ken! Already started the tear-down/rebuild. It's been a few years since I've had a "new" EM (last was my Nags) and I miss the whole process. Putting together my PBR order later tonight!
I have a newb EM question. Is the Teflon Gel Lube that Clay talks about in his videos the same stuff as Super Lube?
Quoted from Gov:I have a newb EM question. Is the Teflon Gel Lube that Clay talks about in his videos the same stuff as Super Lube?
Yes.
BTW, did Lonnie introduce us at TPF this weekend?
Mike O.
Haha, I don't remember. I met too many people this weekend to keep track. That was my first time meeting Lonnie as I have missed all of the tournaments down here that he usually attends.
Ya, I honestly don't think I met any of the Pinside people aside from 1 or 2. I was there with my family and some other people so I was always talking with one of them it seemed like and didn't get much of a chance to meet strangers
Next year I am going to wear a Pinside badge of some sorts.
A big score today. New pins are the K&Q, Olympics, and Derby Day. Final shot is the current shop - most of the collection is there and needs shopping. Momma only wants 4 pins in the house (I have 5 currently in the game room including the Slick Chick and Target Pool) so the EMs will likely all get set up in here.

Love the Derby Day!
Does the Olympics have Caracas or does it have Buenos Aires on the backglass and on the playfield?
Um, how many EMs did you have at the beginning of the year?
Quoted from DirtFlipper:Love the Derby Day!
Thx - am pleased to see that plastics are available because this one had none. I have a feeling it will play as is but need to level some inserts first to prevent more wear.
Quoted from DirtFlipper:Does the Olympics have Caracas or does it have Buenos Aires on the backglass and on the playfield?
Caracas on the Playfield and Buenos Aires on the Backglass. I guess there is a story there? I knew little about the pin, just had it on my wish list due to the theme.
Quoted from DirtFlipper:Um, how many EMs did you have at the beginning of the year?
Umm. 0. I did find my "thinking of buying an EM " thread from December - http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/thinking-of-buying-an-em-buyers-guide
I've only bought 9(ish?) since then? Hopefully after today 2 more of the first purchases will be sold. The first 3 I bought were the first three I found reasonable, but since then my taste has become a little more refined, for the moment anyway.

(found this out while looking at a schematic, while helping someone debug an issue on here.)
