Quoted from Elvisinmypants:

I been trying to not shop and haven't for months. My brother keeps finding me games that make my heart drop when I always seem to miss his message for 12 hours or so... This one should clean up nice, I'm pretty sure I love him.

You owe your bother big time. What a find! The game looks so clean and low played.

Looks like a nice original? For sure a top of the line Add a Ball. Nice going!

What kind of property is that?

#11026 5 years ago

I thought it might be something like that. You were director of property services or management of some sort?
Looks very nice.

No room for a car in my garage...

#11096 5 years ago

I have a 220 volt electric ceiling mount heater for the cold winter months here in NJ....see picture.
Summer time the garage stays cool and winter time stays warm and temperature never fluctuates to a degree where it harms the games.
I can open the inside door to the family room pinball room on the same level as the garage and have some of the house air condition help out during pinball gathering or when ever I want. The basement gameroom has 1 1/2 ton or 18,000 btu's of cooling for just that space.

I would the Williams Line Drive pitch and bat first.

#11120 5 years ago
Quoted from Vic_Camp:

I would the Williams Line Drive pitch and bat first.

I had a beautiful original low played Williams Upper Deck and played many other pitch and bats, but Line Drive is on the top of my list. It's for sure a game I regret selling. It has real good bat power and plays much faster than any other EM pitch and bat.

Here are pictures of one I had restored over 20 years ago and put at least 100 hours into. The game had all the male and female connectors cut from a home owner that didn't know how to disconnect the head from the lower cabinet. Once I soldered back all the wires nothing worked right and took me some time to get it to work 100%. I painted the cabinet because it was trashed and did it in the black, red and blue colors to make it look different than the original colors and thought it would stand out in my line up. I also added the artwork inside the playfield side walls and used an auto tape pin striped to bring back the baseball diamond and bases, which were worn out.

Quoted from thestreetzking:

Damn Vic_camp I would love to play some of those games in your collection.
I want more em's now. I honestly been playing my full house more than I thought I would.

PM me and i will put you on my guest list for the next pinball gathering. Your less than two hours away.
Glad to hear your playing the Full House. Williams made some great games in the 1960's. Full House was one of them.

Quoted from thestreetzking:

I really want a bingo machine, I feel like they really have the "one more game" aspect.

I have six Bally bingos you can play and learn about when you come visit my collection.
Silver Sails, Gay Time, New Continental Golden, Coney Island, Lite a Line and Dixieland.

Played both Ship Mates and Expressway at the Jersey shore in the arcades on the boardwalk. The games really do look so nice especially the playfields where all the action takes place. Viewing your pictures make me want to come over and play the heck out of them beauties. Thanks for sharing and bring back some special memories. Nice work!

Fast playing game with nice playfield design. I had one for a while and thought it was a very good player. Make sure you play it at least once a week to keep it operating 100%. Nice addition!

Picked up this 1967 Gottlieb 2 player about two months ago. I still have some fine tuning left to complete. It was missing the 10 point bell and assembly, play field glass, lockdown bar and flipper coil. Only part left to find is an original back door.

The four flipper arrangement is a blast to play and I don’t find the flipper arrangement awkward at all since I was brought up playing on a Gottlieb Show Boat which is the same flipper arrangement.

I have a tremendous amount work hours into this game and was a beast filled with tons of issues. I found out the game was laying dormant for 50+ years without being played.

I used the paint I got from one of the top restoration specialist on the east coast. I have these bottles for years now and still are usable. I think the Blue color is from a 1967 Gottlieb Sing Alone restoration and the red/ color from 1967 King of Diamond restoration.

Quoted from Darcy:

I really like the backglass art work, with the other Gottliebs in the background. I'm sure I have never played one.

Game play on the Super Score is quick pace, powerful and intense. The playfield is a bit smaller than the normal pinball machine playfield because of the Roulette wheel taking up extra space.

I really the unique scoring feature where the "C" rollover/target value in three steps can reach 2000 point payout to the player. It's easy to get the "C" rollover/target value to 2000 points, but difficult to collect the 2000k on the Roulette spin. If the player does manage to get the 2000 point value lit and land on the "C" in the roulette wheel, then the machine will whack the 100 point gong bell 20 times consecutively and reset the "A" "B" and "C". Maybe that why the named it Super Score!

I am going to do a complete game play video on this game explaining in detail the sequence of operation from the players perspective.

Again, I really like this game as a player because the four flipper arrangement for me is like playing the standard two flipper arrangement (I never get confused what flipper to flip). I can understand a player not being use to this flipper arrangement....which in turn could be a turn off for them and labeling the game as a flop, but in reality they never get to truly know what a good player the game really is. For sure the back glass artwork is nice.

Here's a video of the game (part 1) when I first brought the game home.

Quoted from PinJim:

A Flying Carpet that I just finished fixing up for someone else. I’m super proud of the playfield, total tear down, lots of ultrasonic and tumbling. Owner has no idea how much work I put into it...many, many hours spent on the game...[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

The game looks beautiful, especially the playfield. I played Flying Carpet on route when it first came and liked the game. It is a bit of tough player and require nudging/shaking skills to beat it for replays. At the "summer classic pinball show" in Wayne NJ some years back, a guy pulled up with the best condition Flying Carpet I've ever seen. The cabinet colors were blinding and the playfield top arch had no where what so ever. That one game I wished I bought. For sure Flying Carpet is a one of a few most attractive looking wedgeheads. Nice work!

Picked up this 1969 Bally Gator a few weeks ago. The game was in a New City tie store in the 1970's for customers to play and enjoy while they shop The previous owner took the game to his home after closing down the store. The game is extra clean inside and out and plays nice now after 30+ hours of work.

Quoted from mark532011:

What does that wheel in the middle do?

The roulette wheel scores the “A” “B” and “C” score values depending on where the player has them lit on the play field and where the small silver ball lands on the wheel. The “Star” on the wheel awards a free ball to the player.

When the player makes any stand up target or rollover letter "A" "B" or "C" the value in front of the roulette wheel moves up in value and also lights on the back glass in the machine (pop bumpers) the girl with the red hair is playing (back glass light animation...see picture).

The player must get the ball into the lit kick out hole during play to start the wheel spinning and hope for the best possible score value or landing in the "Star" for an extra or free ball.

The cool thing is once any letter A B or C reaches its top level of points and the player lands in this top points value the game will payoff the points and reset the A B and C back down to the lowest points value. The player at this points starts to shoot for the Letters A B and C again to increase the points values back up to the top, which as you can see in the pictures is only 3 steps upward.

The real cool thing is when the player has the "C" points value up to 2000 and lands in the kick out or go through the side out that is lit on the spin lens and then lands in the letter "C" the game will fire off 20 straight whacks on the 100 point gong bell. If you never heard this bell sounding off, its loud and can you image this happening 20 times in a row, its something to witness.

This game plays fast and powerful. The player has to be on their toes and can't blink an eye, if they want to beat this game for some replays. The reason being is the playfield is an unique design layout. It's smaller in size then the normal standard playfield. The roulette wheel is taking up the extra space at the bottom of the playfield and decreases the length of play the ball can move around. If you ever get a chance to play this game...don't pass it up.

Anyway, go to this link where I made a video on my you tube page of the roulette wheel and game in action.

Picked this 1968 Gottlieb Paul Bunyan (SAMPLE GAME #01019 S) on Tuesday night. Today I worked on the legs and leg levelers and cleaned the cabinet, which was filthy. I was shocked to see how nice the cabinet turned out. Check out before and after pic’s.

Thanks Chuck.... I’ve seen pictures of your set up and collection from your pinball gathering this pass weekend and gotta say they looked sensational! You too have been working hard to have such a great collection in a short time. I can’t wait to visit you.....

Quoted from goldenboy232:

I swear you're like the "cabinet whisperer" or something! Looks amazing! How do you always find such cherry cabinets? What did you use to clean it with?

I guess its part luck and positive thinking. I sprayed Super Clean on the cabinet and wiped cleaned with ease. I have to say, I didn't expect the cabinet to clean up like it did, but it sure was a great feeling when the dirt disappeared.

Quoted from pacmanretro:

Man, I've never had enough....well, guts.... to try super clean on stuff
I've used it for years, but for degreasing engine stuff etc. Tiny splash in my oil pain and it wipes clean...but I use it full strength.
I'm assuming you must dillute it quite a bit and use it lightly? I'd wind up being the guy who wipes all the paint off too.
Do you "rinse" it away when clean? Or let it just dry? That stuff feels slippery like bleach on skin...I always thought it had to be rinsed.
Or is that asking too many trade secrets ?

Just remember we are talking about super clean on cabinets only, no playfields, front or backside of the backglass, card trays, pop bumper caps, metal white top arch, any stickers, labels, score reels, flippers, targets and other things. The most important thing to remember here is.......Super Clean must always be used with extreme caution.

When I use super clean and I've been using it for many years, I always spray test a small area on the lower cabinet. Normally the very back of the game first, where the four white plastic sliders are. If all works out there ok, I will move to the very back of the side of lower cabinet just below the metal side rail or near the back leg. There in that area I will apply a small amount of Super Clean to check to see if, the super clean method will work on the rest cabinet.

If I feel the super clean is really working well, then I move forward just spraying the entire cabinet without any worries, but small sections at a time and only if the complete cabinet doesn't have any other areas where I know it won't harm the paint or cabinet. Sometimes one side of the cabinet might have been exposed to a different environment and does have a different condition to it than the other side of the cabinet or other sections are not consistent with the rest of the cabinet paint. These conditions you must take into consideration before applying super clean. Sometimes this is where experience comes into to play. A cabinet with stress factors where the wood is splitting, cracking, spider webbing or bare wood is showing would not be a candidate for super clean and should not be used.

The best way to use the super clean method is outdoors and have the cabinet sitting on the four white sliders with the shooter rod facing the sky. I spray from the top of the game and letting run down towards the bottom, wiping quickly and constantly with white clean rags. Once I see my white rags are filled with the dirt (which happens quickly) I immediately use another white clean rag and repeat this process over and over until the cabinet sections are removed of all its dirt and grime. When using super clean on the head of the game the back glass should be removed and set in a safe place away from the spraying area.

I make sure I never rub a wet dirty filled rag into the cabinet area that is drenched with super clean working its magic at the moment. I keep many white clean rags waiting to be used close by in my reach, so I never have to leave the super clean on the cabinet for anytime longer than it needs to be. The white rags do not last long during clean up and become saturated quickly and must be replaced by other clean white ASAP during clean up.

I can tell right away if the Super Clean is going to remove what ever dirt or grime a cabinet might have.......I've done so many cabinet with super clean (100+) and 99 % of the time it never removes anything, but the dirt and grime.

The factory lacquer paint on the cabinets does not get removed with super clean normally, but beware it could damage the original painted design or graphics. There are other exceptions when using super clean.....like a dried out cabinet paint that already is visible to the eye is a red flag if your going to use super clean and other obvious conditions that may exist. There were times I come across a cabinet that the super clean did not work its magic on also, but not many.

Go to my videos below to view super clean being sprayed directly on cabinet and watch dirt and grime disappear immediately.

Quoted from pacmanretro:

Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to write this up. Knowing the power of super clean, I ABSOLUTELY would never try on other parts....thank you for the reminder/warning (Good PSA before someone goes trying it!).
I was always scared it would wipe cabinet paint right off. Mean green is strongest I've been using, but it doesn't clean too much of the nasty....and adding a magic eraser definitely gets down to paint layers (before a lot of the dirt).
You do not dilute it?
I forget if the gallon bottle stuff is same strength as the little spray bottles, or if spray is already diluted...I'll definitely have to check first.
Will certainly watch those videos. Thanks for the links!

I never dilute it.

I also deep clean my playfields with straight super clean, but I am extra careful and work extremely slow in small sections. Check out some pictures below and go to page 231 pictures of my Gottlieb Super Score, Bally Gator and Card Whiz, they all had the "deep cleaning" Super Clean treatment on playfields without an issue.

I picked up this low played super clean game two days ago and glad I did. I got about 20 hours of shop work in it already and got to play a game tonight.

Quoted from wayner:

Extraordinary condition Vic. Any info on machine history?

This game was purchased new for the YMCA in Monmouth County NJ in 1976. It was on location there for around two years or so before being brought to a N.J. Summer Camp in 1979.

At the Summer Camp the game became a distraction for the addicted pinball kids and was removed. Sometime in 1979, the game at that point ended up in the home of the N.J. State Facility supervisor and was well cared for 40 years.

I bought the game from the retired Facility supervisor around a week or so ago and was thrilled to see the condition when I first arrived at the home.

This game is well built, fun to play and should last a long time with its factory clear coat on playfield and cabinet. The internal parts seemed to made of strong durable materials similar to the USA manufactures.

Check out the game below...

Quoted from spinal:

Very nice Vic! What other playmatics have you owned and how do they compare to the Gottliebs?

This is my first experience with Playmatic. I have about 25 hours into this game and can only let you know what I have learned and encountered so far.

The cabinet is made up of particleboard and a very thin type of Laminate covering the complete surface area and the Laminate seems to be clear coated and long lasting, if not bumped to scraped etc. The playfield is clear coated and the protection from wear is superb and long lasting with proper maintenance. The internals parts are well made, but underneath the playfield is a little crowded when trying to change light bulbs or clean switches. The motor board and back box are easier to work on things, especially the score reels.

I found about a dozen or more of the bulb sockets in need of repair or replacement otherwise the game is again well made and trouble-free. All of the metal on this game is bright and shiny and didn't need anything but a polishing and is made of good quality.

Comparing to Gottlieb games there is a slight difference in sound, play, size and weight and really nothing that different that stands out. It actually plays more like my 1976 Williams Blue Chip, which also has extremely low plays on it. The New World has some nice features that the Gottlieb games don't have and the Gottlieb's have some nice features that the New World doesn't have. See my you tube video for details #11629

There really isn't that much overall difference between the two machines except you can tell which one is which, if you were blindfolded and got to play them both side by side. The thing that stands out to me the most about this New World is the smoothness of the playfield and how flat the lenses lay on the playfield.

It's obvious I played many Gottlieb's, Bally's and William's on route growing up in the 1960's and 1970's and prefer these games in my collection over other manufactures for sentimental reasons and more....but truthfully this Playmatic is a great pinball machine to have in your collection, if you have the extra space for it.

Here is my latest restoration now complete. Not always that excited about this era of 2-inch flipper games but this one hits the mark. Definitely a lot of fun sometimes a bit frustrating and definitely makes you keep hitting the start button! I try to avoid full repaints but in this case, the cabinet was way too far gone from a bad repaint.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Looks so good....can you send some pictures of the playfield?

I have owned 3 Target Pools and have the best condition one still in my lineup of wedgeheads at the present time. For sure it is one of my favorite games growing up on route and in my collection too.
Nice collection you have there!

Obviously this is not my collection, but with Rob's permission I thought to sharing his outstanding EM collection with the EM pinball community from my you tube page. Enjoy!
