Quoted from IntoPinball:

Not sure if that is a good way to clean your records...

today people expect the music to be crisp and clean ( digitized )
when you play a good LP if you listen real close
there is a sound that crackles and pops
but as someone has aready said, when older recordings are remastered it looses some of what made it great

#1302 10 years ago

We agree. I like that too. It give the music a little soul. He's just pointing out you had a typo and spelled liked as licked. Paints an interesting image.

Yep. And those album covers... I spent hours staring at YES/Roger Dean album covers... And that spinning wheel in LED ZEPPELIN III can't be beat...

#1305 10 years ago

Of course these days I spend a bunch of time staring at pins... hahaha

Yep, Great Game Room as always Vic!

One day I would love to see your collection as well but because of the distance it is unlikely.

Quoted from SteveFury:

Any other Black Sabbath fans around? "Wheels of Confusion" is a prime example of a boogered up digital CD crappy remix.

Yes there are.
Analog to digital had issues when they started the change over.
Then the record companies would have remixes and reissues of a previous cd release with better sound quality as time went on,albet to make more $$$.

#1314 10 years ago

Anyone have any 78rpm`s around?

#1315 10 years ago

Yes but I have never played them. Some inheritance of symphony music.

#1316 10 years ago

Ditto ^^ something music i also inherited and wouldnt play. Still keep them for nostalgia.
Not sure if people saw these or not but remember when Cd`s came out someone had the idea of cutting 33 rpm center section and making them into beverage coasters?
Saw a few of them back then with some good artist/titles ,sacrilege

#1317 10 years ago

Here are some more pictures of my basement collection, but this time i included my garage gameroom where i have my Bally Bingos and Williams pins. I have a 3rd gameroom on the 5th levelof my house and there i have a Brunswick 4 1/2 x 9 ft pool table and 7000 45rpm records and 1500 33rpm albums.

I have the Black Sabbath "Black Box" with the first 8 albums remastered. 20 bit? 24bit? (too lazy to look) Some people in the music forums I am in say that they are too "hot" in the mastering. I have listened too these cds for about 9 or 10 years now and I like them. The first thing I did when I got the box set is throw trade in the crappy 1980's 16 bit masters that sound like ass. The Heaven and Hell box set of Dio's Black Sabbath years sounds okay still miles better than the 16 bit masterings. I just wish Warner Brothers and Rhino would master shit properly like Columbia / Epic Legacy and Universal Music does. My Frank Zappa remasters sound absolutely amazing. (Universal Music) My Kansas, Cheap Trick, Heart, Mountain remasters sound amazing.

#1321 10 years ago

Vic you have an absolutely amazing collection. One of these days I hope to have a bigger collection of EMs

How did the schematics come out? IntoPinball should have sent you a copy.

#1323 10 years ago

Dan...thanks for the compliment. I am still upgrading my collection and only have two games left with painted cabinets but the rest of them are all original condition and very low plays.
Good luck on your growing collection.

Bank A Ball and KOD should be easy to find in unmolested condition. I prefer the repaints (shrug) but I am one of those 5 per centers that prefers them that way.

#1326 10 years ago

Just picked up this TOP CARD but have no place to put it.This wedgehead has only 23,000 plays.Check out how little wear the top arch on the playfield has. It can't stay in the middle of the family room.Might have to move my 1951 Bally Coney Island bingo up to the pool room.I have been out of space for the last 10 years and it killing me.

Vic I am shocked that you don't have your Atlantis that you sold. I am also surprised you don't own a Slick Chick or an Abra-Ca-Dabra

#1328 10 years ago

I have an ATLANTIS....no desire for Slick Chick and haven't played Abra Ca Dabra yet. Like i said.... been out of room for 10 years and have been really haven't been buying anything, actually Sing a Along,North Star,Silver Sails and Top Card bought in the last 5 years or so. I never store any games and always have all my games playing like factory new.

I just got a sweet hearts, it is in great shape. It has been on my list for quite a while
that one looks to have some wear in the pb area but other that that the pf should clean up nice, is the cabinet repaint like the head?
as far as music goes i always licked the vinyl pops and clicks, i have digital music but listen to vinyl when i really want to listen and enjoy the tunes. i still search garage sales and flea markets for good old vinyl
a good player is a must

It's the one I found for you a while back. The cabinet repaint is like the original art but not done very well. I'll post more in a new thread.

#1330 10 years ago

Vic, Abra-Ca-Dabra is very addictive and goes well with Atlantis and El Dorado for a '75 wedgehead trifecta. Abra-Ca-Dabra can be had for about 700-1000 dollars in unmolested condition. (I don't mention Spin Out because I feel it is meh) You make the first person I have encountered that didn't care for Slick Chick. I also wish you had more room because your amazing collection would then get bigger.

Nice collection! What a place to shut out the world

I always find it interesting what games people have and don't have. Never played Slick Chick but based on it's rating would expect it to make the cut - but it hasn't! So many great 70's games so easier to see why some not there.

In terms of variation how about either Slick Chick, Majorettes or Gigi as all 3 unique pop bumper games with great art?

Now how does Spin A Card get a place. not being a true wedgeheadf

Very nice collection Vic. You have enough machines to qualify for "small museum status" in my book. Give Abra Ca Dabra a chance. Find a nice one - the artwork on the playfield and the rule set are what makes it special.

Depends on your collecting criteria!

Mine is more of a playing criteria. If I only had one style from one manufacture, then I would be missing out on some great machines, and my collection would not be very well rounded. My acquisition of Big Daddy has re-affirmed my position on that.

Agree totally.

The more varied types of play the better. With limited space I always look fir nice games that play different so would only have a Kings and Queens or a Melody or Sing Along for example.

Unlimited space/money and it would be a different story

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Those are all great games that I wouldn't mind having, but if I had to choose between three of the older titles that I have, I would keep Big Daddy, and let Buckaroo and King of Diamonds go. It is that good.

#1339 10 years ago

Shhh, you have to keep the 60s Williams secret.

I think it looks better too. Much more colorful with very nice artwork. The others are great games with great art too though.

Yes, they do, although Abra Ca Dabra has bonus value countdown inserts.
Team One is the Add A Ball version of ACD according to IPDB.

Playfield2.jpgPlayfield2.jpgimage-12.jpgimage-12.jpg

#1346 10 years ago

ABCD is just cool with the game play. This game will leave you one away from the special and you saying "One more game!" The artwork is beautiful. Yes I am biased because I own one. Team One is just plain funky. And the AAB makes it even funkier.

#1347 10 years ago

Yeah...It's all coming to me now. I played Team One at my Buddy Dave's house in NY many times at his yearly Add a Ball partys and remember liking it a lot. I sold all my add a balls from my collection because i just wanted the games i played growing up back in the 1960's and 70's....so i never thought to think there was a replay game. Anyways i plan to keep a close eye out for any coming up for sale.
