Quoted from Mopar:

Another beautiful machine, and I've been told I need at least one Bingo, but
the thing is, I already have many other machines I'd like to have set up, but
the room isn't there..

I can deliver for free when I pick up the Loop the Loop!

#13302 1 year ago
Quoted from Mopar:

Tahiti! Had to look that one up. Jack Rogers! How many of them were made?
So the machine has regular colored score reels with a light bulb inside the reels
that shine through the reels then through the lense type images on the backglass?
I'm not even sure I've seen a pic of that machine before, but if one did pop up, I'm
sure I'd be exploring..

Total production is unknown.
It uses Nixie tubes for score display like on Rally Pinballs : https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=3601&picno=44449&zoom=1

I used to use a big Xerox copier at my very first job back in the early '70s. It had a Nixie tube display which showed the number of copies made. I thought it looked really cool!

Here’s your next treasure hunt Mopar

A friend of mine has the replay of this game, but the flyer says it was available in a AAB version. The BG is very similar to Hula Hula, but game play is totally different.

Hey Jay! So far the weather's been snow free, but don't want to press
my luck. This weekend I'll bring the Loop the Loop in the upper garage.
Anytime will okay with me. Just give me a little heads up.. (T)

aahgo, An AAB South Pacific would fit in that row perfectly.
My want list is back up to 3 games..

Will do, thanks! More ski areas should be opening soon, so we're getting closer. I did order a new backglass already. I needed one for my Exposition and you get a discount when buying two at once.

These two probably get the most play from my kids and their friends.

nothing better than a Gottlieb EM from the 70's, from the pop bumpers, to the drop targets,to the phat flippers, think I played every one that was out in the 70's......those machines were work horses in the arcades back then, glad I was there to be a part of the history, those ARE pinball machines

#13311 1 year ago
Quoted from mricks1960:

Wow, Tim, those two look awesome together! So, which is the better player?

Just played an awesome paradise this past weekend, it's a good 1 player game, but a great two player game. The A-B-C-D carry over feature from player to player (also game to game) is rather unique for a multi-player game; I can only think of one other game with this feature - GTB Super Score/Hi-Score 1967.

Went through a snow storm from MN to Florida to pick up a Kings and Queens and Egghead! 10 degrees to 70 degrees Babee! All setup at the Pinball Asylum, just need minor tweaks from the journey. Can’t wait for everyone to play them and see how fun these games are.

Yes, Paradise's close relative Pleasure Isle has the same feature, and actually the other 3
Gottlieb True 2 Player Add a Balls (Big Top, Lariat, and Hyde Park) has a carry over feature,
but the most unusual carry over type feature is on Chicago Coin True 2 player Add-a-Balls.
(By True 2 Player I mean not just Shoot Again, but balls can be accumulated on the same ball)
Hula Hula has a match feature. When it's plug in the In position, if a match is made at the
end of a game, the knocker knocks, and a ball is added and that added ball is carried over to
the next game played. So after you fire up your next game, the 'Shoot Added Ball Now' light
comes on, and the first ball played is that added ball the Match Feature awarded from the
previous game. To me it didn't seem right. It would make more sense if the Match Feature's
added ball was for the game being played.
I remember C.C's AAB Bronco had match feature numbers on the backglass, and I figured they
were for the Replay Broncos and didn't bother removing them for the AAB's, so I took another
look, and the match feature had no bulbs, but wired sockets. I took a closer look, and it had
a Match Feature In & Out plug. I placed it in the In position, manually made it so it would
match at the end of a game, and sure enough. It gave an extra ball for the next game to be
played..

An enticement for the current player to drop another dime into the game to reap the reward awaiting.

I like that shirt too,and i was going to buy one for myself, but after looking at their web sight they are in strong support of recently released Brittney Griner.....so I will not be buying a shirt from them,I'd rather spend $25.00 on shipping to get me a .99 cent pinball part....

Seems like they have a wide variety of tee shirts covering many subjects and points of view. I don't think they necessarily support any particular view based on the shirts they offer.

Quoted from pinwiztom:

Yea, I had/have the same thing in mind. When a match is made, Hula Hula's
game is over (SHOOT ADDED BALL NOW isn't lit), so until one gets to know the
game they don't know the next game starts with a free ball unless they play another
game..
On Bronco, (having a manual ball lift), when a match is made (at the end of a game),
that game doesn't end, so the 'SHOOT ADDED BALL NOW' stays on, but the Ball
Release Coil doesn't energize, so there's no getting the ball to the trough unless
another dime is put in and another game started. The results are primarily the
same on the Match Feature with the 2 machines, but thought I'd mention how that
feature functions a little differently on the 2 machines.
I have the Match Feature in the Off Position on both machines, but I can understand
Chicago Coin's purpose for the feature, but it was a little surprising to discover..

look up pinball shirts and go to pages 236 & 237 there are 7 shirts that say free Brittney Griner....that's enough for me, and that's too bad cause I was going to get one of those Gottlieb shirts...my cousin was killed in 1967 in VIETNAM, ya I'm old, but nobody uses their platform to disrespect MY country, when it was this country, that they have benefited from

#13323 1 year ago

let move on to pinball, thank you

Here is the official Gottlieb store with a page of their logo shirts. https://www.cafepress.com/gottlieb_pinball/6504512

In a quick search I didn't see any Brittney Griner shirts on the parent website but I do not take responsibility for their products.

I have to admit ignorance on this subject, but I did a quick search, and this "Free Britney" thing seems to be about Britney Spears.

Yeah, Cafe Press is the vendor I'm familiar with for Gottlieb shirts and stuff. Didn't know about this other outfit until the link was posted here.

Very cool. I've been wanting to do slow motion videos of my machines in action. What type of camera did you use? You had a good score for that game. I love getting the knocker to activate!

Thank you! Always nice to hear when people enjoy my videos. Took quite a few games to get a respectable score... My Fireball is extremely unforgiving. And the fact that I had to be in an awkward position while playing (so that the camera wouldn't catch me) didn't help.

I used a Sony A7s III with a Tamron F2.8 28-75mm G2 lens. I think I filmed it at F10. Used two big softbox lights that you can see in the reflection of the ball . Filmed in S-Log3 and some color grading done in DaVinci Resolve.

However, I'm not completely satisfied with the quality of the video. Too much grain, which should be avoidable with this setup. But it does give it a vintage feel, which is fine in this case: very much in line with the subject matter.

#13333 1 year ago

Very cool to see the spinning disc action on the ball in the slow motion!

#13334 1 year ago

Very cool video! I made a quicky slow-mo video of my Hurricane the other day. The prototype ramp that JodyG (Ramp-o-matic) made wasn't working quite right, so I was able to shoot the video to see what was really going on. I had no clue my phone could do that until my kids told me.

Nice work. Did you find a lot of cold solder joints? The “Flippers” up to early 1963 seem to be especially bad… so many just pop off.

Update: I've been pretty lucky with the 6 previous Flipper Series machines
I went through. Only a Flipper Fair had poor solder joints, until this 7th one.
Another Flipper Fair with horrible cold solder joints, and to top it off, it has
other major wiring problems. Not sure if someone had soldered wires incorrectly,
but this one's not going to be as simple as a walk in the park..
