Quoted from Ballypin:

Super rare 1971 Bally Round Up. 70 produced, never mass produced and probably only a dozen are known to exist. Design credit goes to Ted Zale but this *could* have been a Harry Williams design since it re-uses the Skill Spin Mystery Stop Bonus mechanism that Harry included in his Feb 1971 Bally Firecracker.
Restoration almost complete and Round Up will be in the Free Play area at Allentown 2022 on Friday May 6th only.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Thanks for bringing the game, I enjoyed playing it, it's funny now reading from your description of the bonus mechanism, when I got the bonus on your game, I'm thinking this is just like my Firecracker that I have at home.

Here's something different you EM people might like: videos of two rare flipperless EM games that a friend and I myself own.

The Genco Big League in Hunting for Specials is one of the first games where an EM ruleset is starting to get quite intricate.

The Exhibit Wings in the other video has two interesting captive ball mechs on the playfield.

Hope you guys enjoy the videos. Editing these is another hobby of mine.

Williams "Triple Action".

#13105 1 year ago

There's another very similar version called "Star Action". Exactly the same game, except that "Triple Action" has a yellow base colored cabinet, and "Star Action" has a white base colored cabinet. Also "Star Action" is strictly an add-a-ball version, and lacks a replay unit. The scoring is 10X the values on "Triple Action".
Both games are from 1973.

That spinning wheel really got my attention
Is that in other EMs?

I would off liked to see a boxing theme pin with that spinner in the middle of 3or4 pop bumpers

Thanks for the info

Williams made a similar game a year later, called "Star Pool". It also features the same type of spinner.

#13108 1 year ago

Also the spinner is similar to the one used on TOTAN

Was going to say that, but we're talking EMs. I once referred to TOTAN as "a glorified Triple Action".

Nothing special about the title I picked up last night but the pin's history was the surprise. Great art package on Wizard but I do have a fondness for Bally pins as well. Had a non-pinhead, but big music fan with me to help move it, loved it as he's a Who fan.

From the few pictures on the FB ad it looked to be in pretty good shape overall but hard to be sure. Expected to see the usual wear on a popular title.

Betsy said she is selling her house and retiring in Florida. We walked into the finished basement and I was quite surprised. I asked her if she knew the history of the machine and she said "I sure do! My Dad bought that pinball machine brand new when I was 8 years old. It's been with me ever since!"

Can't wait to get it cleaned up and playing fast once again.

Curious to know the meter reading on it. Rare to find a HUO game this old.

I meant to look at it this morning but forgot, will add a pic later after work. This pin wasn't just decoration for Betsy, she played it! Always great to see lady pinheads.

Cleaned up it should look stellar inside and out.

It appears to have had a fair amount of use despite being in a home environment for it's entire life. I wonder how often it was waxed, and if it's the original ball.

I didn't ask those questions. But it appears she did keep the playfield clean from debris. The ball did not have any corrosion on it either. Betsy was a player.

While it is a clean example, the 25 cents for one play dymo label looks like it was routed prior to dad buying the game for her. The coin gear is what will usually tell you if it truly is HUO or possibly spent time on route prior to her ownership.

Knowing when Betsy turned 8 would help to truly age the game.

Regardless, a very nice example.

That is quite possible too. I wish I had bought it from a guy because I could have asked how old he was. I'm 54 and she appeared a bit older than I but hard to guess how much older, she has spent a lot of time in the sun/outside. I've sent a message asking for a picture of her when she was a kid playing it to keep with the machine. Might be able to determine the year her dad bought it. We'll see.

I would think a new machine would have come with pricing cards. Perhaps dad made the Dymo label, and kept it on coin play so as to make it like a piggy bank.

#13119 1 year ago

Who knows. That would be an average of 447 games a year.

Congrats on the nice pickup. 2 years ago I wanted one so bad I drove to a place an hour west of Chicago to get this one that must have matched their 1971 Naugahyde furniture collection...

If she was 8 in 1975, she'd now be 55. Her Dad picking up the machine any later that 1975
would make her now younger than 55 (that's if she was 8 when her Dad purchased the machine).
Maybe it was set up to be on location, but never (or very little) actually was..

I have a Magic Town with the exact panel like surface.
Of course original is ideal, but if someone hadn't already began pealing
off one side, I'd leave it (I have another one). It was actually very well done..
Also, in a 2 or 3 year span, all in different locations in N.Y. State, I picked
up a Flipper Clown, Flipper Parade, and Flipper Cowboy with exact matching
painted on panel like substance. I redid the Flipper Clown's cabinet. That
stuff was a bitch to get off..

Yeah luckily that was an oil based brown paint job that was intact, so I just lightly sanded primed and painted over it. The legs I gave to a guy who sells parts in town.

Many pics coming soon. What’s neat is there are “anti” ball tracks on the playfield. The game was being played post fire so the ball was going around cleaning the machine.
