Quoted from embryonjohn:The playfield has that clay dust from the original rubbers which will clean up and it’ll shine like a champ. 26k plays and the schematic still taped to the back panel. Looking forward to cranking the tunes in the garage, some IPAs and a rewarding shop job.
I'm thinking I need to visit "junk stores" more often LOL!

I can never come across these deals. Great find!
Quoted from docquest:I'm thinking I need to visit "junk stores" more often LOL!
I picked up a pretty nice Team One sample game for a great price at a "junk" store in December. They actually have a company that does clean outs and put the better stuff in their store. Neat business model and there was some nice stuff in there.
I was talking to one of the owners and said these clean out companies always seem to find great stuff. He said yes but that's generally a small portion of the stuff they have to haul away.

No wear on that pf. What's the play meter read?
Quoted from Playdium:No wear on that pf. What's the play meter read?
No play meter on AAB games. I can't imagine it had a ton. It wasn't HUO as it had an operator card taped to the apron.

That’s exactly how my wife and I found our first machine 3+ years ago. Then it turned into an obsession, but since the supply has dried up a lot, we’re held off a bit
Congratulations, nice find!
Dave

Team One's the 2nd pin I owned. Still have it along with the 1st.
What's your machine's same number?

If you like the game play on Team One but wish it had a cooler art package you should check this thread out:

I think Ken’s project is cool and understand why completely. With that said I feel like this clean sample is semi-rare and should stay original.

Agreed!!!
Cleaned the score reels with 409 and a soft cloth. That or Windex has always worked with no problems for me.
Relamped with the original GE bulbs. I don’t find too many burned out bulbs with GE markings on them. If they are original to the game they are 40+years old. Unreal, really.
Installed the ball return lanes and return lane plastics. It is too late to test tonight but this Top Card should be finished tomorrow. Functional testing, install the new plastics, slide it into place, and it’s done.

I remember picking this game up for the previous owner a few years ago, and even recently played it. The cleanest original I've ever seen. Great job Tryg!
Quoted from phergott:I forgot to mention that it's a HUO only game.
And it looks it.
Thanks Chris. I was lucky to get it from the previous owner. I thought it would be too easy to win as I was doing the final testing but that doesn’t seem to be true so far actually playing it.

Had a Magic Town for a short bit- Game is beautiful to look at but a stone cold bitch to play. Truly lived up to the operator maxim of if you were playing for longer than 3 minutes he was losing money. I rarely had a game longer than 2-3 minutes, the outlanes are voracious.
Quoted from Playdium:Down to only 3 machines now.

Making room to add some new ones?
Thanks for the offer on the Lucky Hand plastics, these were in great shape.

This #BowAndArrow was my Mother-in-law’s, I got it when she passed away.
It worked and then it didn’t, but I was able to bring it back to life with the help from MarkG and @studentprince.
Still has a couple of problems, but it is definitely playable now.

Well at least the 1/2 looks super nice while you wait.

Thanks, then you should like these pics. Complete teardown of score motor and relays as well.
I enjoy the work sometimes more than playing a machine.

I had a Triple Action with a backglass that was even worse. Had a sign vinyl image made that I applied to the back of clear glass. Came out pretty well. Have a Corel Draw file of the front artwork. And the sign shop that made the back mask probably still has that file. I would be happy to send the front art if you want, and give you the shop phone number. Not sure if or what they would charge if they still have the files. PM me if interested.

did you have the metal plated, or just de-rusted and polished?
Quoted from DCRand:did you have the metal plated, or just de-rusted and polished?
Not re-plated, just cleaned and polished. I use an ultrasonic to break down the heavy grime, then hand polish and finish with a bench buffing wheel.

Normally I would say yes but my grandpa thinks the backglass is funny/stupid and wants to keep it…

Nothing like a buffing wheel polish. Even after tumbling always buff even screw heads.

Target Alpha and its shared playflied games need an added lamp under the plastic behind the 5 drop targets.
I may do that to mine all of them are fun to play.

Yup, did that on Solar City ten years ago. I think they sometimes left out bulbs for cost savings, but it is crowded in that location as well. I may have moved a couple things to make room. Another option is to surface mounton top sideways if enough space. (Did that also on Pro Football/ Gridiron up top, and Spin Out above roto)

Nice additions with the lighting.
Quick question about your Gridiron, do you know the difference between the Ball Return Switch and Ball Shooter Switch as stated on the schematic? My Ball Return Switch works properly but the U relay never activates at start up and I can’t find the Ball Shooter Switch.
The score motor does pulse the U relay but it doesn’t hold at reset complete.

Don't have the game anymore, sounds like you may have a dity switch if it's not holding as you think it should.

That playfield looks really nice and such great artwork too. Low plays or just well maintained?
I had never played a variant of this playfield layout until getting a Gold Strike recently.
Picked it up and thought I’d probably trade it as a playfield with so many drop targets wasn’t appealing to me.
Not going anywhere, absolutely addicted to it! With everything tuned up and a fresh coat of wax the table can get extremely fast, didn’t expect that either. A few tough shots and the four flippers with perfectly placed pop bumpers. It’s classic Gottlieb and for good reason.
Have always loved the Target Alpha artwork. The GS cowboy is a bit lackluster in comparison.
Finally got the Gridiron running too. Was quite the project. Played it a bit last night and like the difficulty of the four flippers. It requires ball control in a challenging way.
Quoted from Garrett:. Low plays or just well maintained
Much like my Super-Flite, it was in the same home for 40 some years. The rubbers were extremely rotten and it didn't look like it was cleaned since the 80s. It's got some plays on it so I imagine for the half a decade it was in the wild it must have been a popular title.
Got my first Pinball a few weeks ago, and learned how to read schematics and got it running perfectly. Just Changed out bulbs to leds today and just the subtle changes made a big difference when playing. Using colors for the green blue and red stars make them stand out while playing and give the game a cooler look.
My next goal is to level the inserts. All of them have pretty bad cupping which make playing frustrating as they seriously alter the ball travel… some times the ball even stays in them. I plan to use the method of layers of polycrylic to fill in the recesses. Im hoping i can get it flat… the game is super fun!
