EM pinball postings have been down all over these past few months.

I agree with that, so is the EM market!

Oh shush! lol

you can tell by the two coin slots

Actually, my daughter was astonished that you knew the machine by just seeing that small area of two stripes on the face.

#12505 8 days ago

Hi there. This one was handed down to a buddy of mine. Does anyone know anything about it?
Pinside says it was made as both EM and SS.
Confirmed it does fire up.

Thanks for any insight or direction!

I've seen my share of both versions. Should have known the replay version by the coin slots.

call me crazy. did a 13 hour round trip for this major project.

so much wrong but been chasing a kewpie doll for over 30 years and see this as a challenging project.

woodrails don't show up too often in australia.

will get a ground up restoration over the coming 12 months.

nothing here that can't be saved and fixed

Nice. Well if you ever come across an extra sling plastic for the right side let me know because mine has a crack in the Fun Park that is currently in my line up.

Fun Land is a very underrated machine! I love the light animation in the middle of the playfield and the spinner point lights! Best of all is the moving SPECIAL with each point

#12515 7 days ago

Yeah the spinners in Fun Land are really cool in the way they score based on where they stop rather than how hard you rip it. The roving Special and the spinning wheel lights make for a real frenzy when you get to that stage of the game. Agree this is a unique and under rated game.

Normally I have a self imposed ban on pinball machines in the house outside of the game room. I am out of room and the garage is hot in the summer, so Spanish Eyes found its way into my guest bedroom. It actually looks kind of good there, and is close by my home office while I'm still telecommuting!

Here my current project
At this recall, the playfield could not be saved anymore.
I rebuilt it.

I've just gotten it going, but haven't shopped it yet. I'm liking the rule set and the combination of skill and randomness.

Cosmic Pinball was made by Briarwood which was a division of Brunswick. They made several models of home pinball machines in the late 70's - early 80's. The models each had different artwork screen printed on plexiglass for the backglass and playfield cover. The playfield graphics were decals if I recall. The playfield layouts were identical on each model. There wasn't alot to shoot for, a center rollover, 2 pop bumpers, 2 kickers, a center target and a couple of rebound switches.

We had the Skate King model that we got for Christmas. I believe my parents got it at Sear's or Montgomery Wards. It was one of the solid state models. We played the heck out of it for several years. The ball shooter broke and unfortunately a few years after these were produced, Briarwood shut down and replacement parts were no longer available. With a little McGyvering, we could still get the ball to launch in order to play it. We ended up giving it to another family with a bunch of kids when we outgrew it. If memory serves me right, the hardwood playfield showed very little wear after all the play we put it through. These pins were not full size, they were maybe 3/4 scale.

These are listed in the Internet Pinball Database, search for Briarwood.

This is my Gold Rush (2nd). I had some fun with it and created the side-art. I went with polar opposite colors that the original art. Some say "Sacrilege", but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I thought one of the big companies made a couple of machines with both wood and metal rails .

Kewpie is one of my favorites, fun game and rolling the ball off the tip of the flipper and up the side roll over takes practice but the shot of the game when mastered. I like the game so much I have 2 1/2 of them.
But I'm sure you're aware the Kewpie is in the wrong cabinet, it is a true woodrail.
I also have a Hi Diver, great game too, Plastics, backglass and spinning disc is all available.
Good pick up!!
