Nice

Pit for friends
I come from Germany
My first Pinball is a royal flush
And after 30 years it was time to repaint the playfield.

I had a nice Dodge City. It was fun for awhile.
Scoring can be a little imbalanced on a multiplayer game, but the dancing cowboy was kind of cool.
One of the earliest games I can remember playing. It was at a coin laundry mat. Saw it one day after it was heavily vandalized. Put it on my wishlist list and now own it. Hard game to find.
Just finished this, waiting for a fresh set of plastics from Down Under. Mod added for resetting drop targets using original style parts. Wade Krause Playfield, many new parts but still plays like one of the first target bank Gottlieb games 10th off the line in 1970. as others have mentioned, pictures are not in proper orientation with mobile uploads lately.

I'm in the middle of redoing a Dimension, also waiting on plastics. I wasn't planning on polishing everything on the motor board, but you're making me feel guilty!

Great job on a great game! And 10th off the line - cool! I traded a nice 2001 for a nice Lucky Hand a few years ago. Loved the 2001 for the short time I had it.

Did you buy this 2001 from Adam? Or just doing the restoration? I sold it to him since I didn’t want to wait for a playfield for it. Nice touch ups on the backglass! Glad to see it found a nice playfield to go with the rest of the machine.
I have a set of NOS plastics if you’re interested
Quoted from ArgosySK:Nice grab. Nice price. Can't wait to see it working.
Oh..you know who i be turning to for that help Charles!!
Just finished my Canada Dry with a NOS plastic set.
The playfield is in super extra condition.
Look at the 2 new bulbs under the canada dry plastic. My pinball is now brighter !
The next step will be to improve the features with scored bonus value and targets reset during the play !
Quoted from electricsquirrel:I kind of wondered about that, too.
Saratoga, is known for horse racing and spring water.
There is a ship called Saratoga too:
"USS Saratoga (CV-3) was a Lexington-class aircraft carrier built for the United States Navy during the 1920s."
Yet there are references of neither on my glass.[quoted image]
My apologies for necroposting so hard here. When I first joined the hobby I had noted the pinball machine after my city’s namesake, Saratoga.
On the backglass I believe is depicted the Grand Central Hotel, however it COULD be the United States Hotel.
In the late 1800s Saratoga Springs was a worldwide destination for any upper class Victorian traveler. It is world renowned for its historic racetrack (the oldest operating track in the country!) and it’s healing waters. “Taking of the waters” was considered a high society activity. The Native Americans for many generations believed the springs had healing powers and taught this to the white settlers. And to this day the Lincoln Bathhouses still stand for those who want a day at the spa.
Anyway, in the late 1800s the hotels in Saratoga exploded, they started building on entire city blocks. They build many famous hotels such as: Congress hotel, the United States Hotel, the Grand Central Hotel, the Grand Union Hotel, and the only one still remaining: the Adelphi. Most of these hotels were “the biggest in the world” so not to be outdone the next guy logically just build a bigger one down the street. Most the city was dominated by these ultra-massive hotels that we really don’t see anymore in modern times. We’re talkin’ college campus hotels, with their own enclosed courtyard as seen on the backglass.
Most of these obviously succumbed to fire pretty rapidly since they had to use lanterns and kerosene to heat and light the builds back then. Some of them only a couple years after construction.
It’s a very cool game and it’s notable in my opinion because it’s one of the very few places that had a game based off it back in the early years of pinball.
I’m very passionate about the history of the city, so if anyone ever has a Saratoga they’d like to sell or they happen upon, please let me know. Ideally it will be arranged to have it placed in the Horse Racing Museum, or possibly the Canfield Casino in Congress Park. The park was originally mostly the Congress hotel but when it burned down the destruction was so massive, the city basically took the land as payment for the cleanup and turned it into a park!

Great idea on the resetting drop targets. Hopefully, your bonus collection doesn't make the game too easy. I love the resetting mod on 2001. Keeps advancing gameplay! Thanks for the offer Michael, yes purchased thru Adam. Had I known a few weeks ago, (Adam didn't know about them either) I might have taken you up on this. In the meantime, the Plastics have arrived from Down Under. Kenhead made a group Buy deal. Thanks very much to him for putting it together.
Quoted from o-din:Saratoga was the first modern pinball machine with active bumpers. Or as Williams called them "BANG BANG". Or Thumper Bumpers.

My Exhibit Supply “New Contact” was made in the same month/year as Williams Saratoga and features a Patent Pending pop bumper design they called “explosion kickers” that “give action and thrilling suspense as never before”.

Are they shipping stuff again? Website still has the postage notification banner.

I corrected our "Saratoga" listing to point out it's the first game with active bumpers that used a metal ring, not a spring.
I changed the date of "New Contact" from October to September 1948 per Billboard.
Spring compression bumpers appeared as early as 1938 in Stoner's "Super-Zeta" and "Zipper".

Ken Head (via FB) put together a deal with them for a large order. Shipped to him in Texas, then shipped to me and others.

I heard from Lee yesterday. As far as he knew flights were still on hold, but he was going to make a post office run today to check status.
Rollover/gobble hole scoring issue resolved, right flipper back to 100%, all lamps shinning bright, plate glass out, playing like new, thanks JT Amusements. This sunshine is a real beauty. She's tough though, even with a score over 4mil haven't been able to get a rating higher than good. Can't Imagine what a killer game genius rating would take.

Should I install them or just include them with the sale? It's a really nice machine. Likewise, the backglass has not been sealed. Should I seal the backglass before selling the machine? The inserts are slightly cupped and I am afraid to try to fix them as I do not want to destroy the playfield. Any advice as to what I should do to increase the value? What might it be worth? It's a collector or museum quality original, with a 8.5/10 original playfield, 9/10 original backglass and original 9/10 cabinet. Thanks!

IMO leave it be. if the new owner wants to improve it let him deal with it

Yup, and just include the plastics. The one I have I acquired in a trade. I'm not really sure what they're going for..

yes it does, i wasn't slamming you just pointing out that it really only take a little more effort to bondo the edge and sand it so the edges are sharp. really make a big difference.
